🎥Berlinale Spotlight Screening in Ghana- creating development through African Cinema✨   The Berlinale Spotlight Screening made its African debut in Accra, showcasing nine impactful films from the Berlin International Film Festival. The event explored themes like gender equality, migration, and post-colonial struggles through screenings and panel discussions.   The initiative celebrated African storytelling and talent, with curators highlighting its role in sparking dialogue and advancing societal change. International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Advancing Inclusion for All 🌍♿ On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we must acknowledge a critical truth: over a billion people with disabilities worldwide still face barriers to equal and meaningful participation. Disability rights remain absent from many political and development agendas – and this must change! Since 2018, the Global Disability Summit (GDS) has been igniting this change – bringing together governments, civil society, and OPDs to advance disability-inclusive development. Central to this is the commitments mechanism, which turns political will into action through measurable pledges from governments, the private sector, donors, and OPDs. The next edition of the Global Disability Summit (GDS) will take place: 🗓️ 2-3 April 2025 📍 Berlin, Germany Co-hosted by the Governments of Germany and Jordan and the International Disability Alliance . From tackling urban mobility challenges to advancing climate resilience and sustainable economic transformation, the conference sparked thought-provoking discussions on key national issues. The conference featured inspiring keynote addresses, including a motivational speech by Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, Omanhemaa of Sunyani, who called for more women to join the planning profession. Additionally, the Nkosuahene of Dumasua emphasized community-driven sustainable development, integrating environmental, climate, and economic factors into local planning efforts. A #sustainable future for Ghana’s piggery value chain💪 Invest for Jobs - Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition", in collaboration with Piper Pretty Company Limited, has launched an initiative called 𝐏𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬 in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The Piggery for Jobs project will boost the growth of the local industry, enhance food security, support the creation of at least 300 new decent jobs, and improve the working conditions of 700 farmers through various #trainings and access to #social #protection schemes. With a state-of-the-art meat processing facility by Piper Pretty that can process 35,000 pigs a year, the project will provide sustainable markets for farmers and high-quality products for consumers. A win for economic growth, job creation, and food security!
