  • Ghana's inaugural women-focused fund, Zinari, hits first close of its GHS 120 million fund. 1️⃣ Zinari Women’s Enterprise Fund (Z-WEF), Ghana’s first women-focused fund, has announced the successful GHS 35 million first close for the GHS 120 million Fund. 2️⃣ Anchored by the government’s fund-of-fund vehicle, Venture Capital Trust Fund, the fund seeks to bridge the financing gap for female entrepreneurs. 3️⃣ The fund will write cheques between GHS 100,000 to GHS 12 million to 20 Small and Growing Businesses.   • Sommalife secures €440,000 in debt financing to address operational logistical bottlenecks. 1️⃣ Sommalife, the Wa-based shea-focused agtech platform, has closed €440,000 in debt funding from the Kampani, the Brussels-based social impact fund. 2️⃣ The investment by Kampani will enable Sommalife to address logistical challenges that pose a bottleneck to its operations. With funding, the company plans to acquire trucks and other transportation assets, reducing its reliance on third-party providers. 3️⃣ This investment will streamline collection and delivery processes, improve traceability, and accelerate payments to farmers, further enhancing the company’s impact on the shea value chain. 4️⃣ As of 2024, the company has registered 120,000 farmers through its digital platform (TreeSyt), with 40,000 actively selling shea. This initiative is complemented by essential services and training in sustainable farming, ensuring product quality and economic empowerment for farmers.
