Last week, I had the honor of celebrating a remarkable milestone: 30 years of the European Training Foundation (ETF) in the beautiful city of 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻. It was a day to reflect on the incredible journey of an organization that has consistently worked to 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹. Over the years, the ETF has supported countries through critical #transitions, responded to #crises, and helped #communities rebuild through #education. It’s clear that this work goes far beyond systems and policies—it’s about #𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. But this celebration wasn’t just about looking back. The conversations were forward-thinking and inspiring, focusing on 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟰𝟬. How can we prepare for the #challenges ahead? How do we make sure that those most in need, whether #younglearners, #adults seeking new opportunities, or communities facing uncertainty, are not left behind? These discussions reminded me of the power of collaboration and bold thinking in 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the evening celebration at the stunning 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗶 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮. Walking through the beautiful halls, sharing stories, and hearing about the ETF’s vision for the future, I couldn’t help but feel the shared 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 in the room. From the launch of the ETF 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 to the presentation of the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, it was a night to honor not just the achievements of the past 30 years but the people and partnerships that have made it all possible. As we celebrate this milestone, I’m left with a hopeful question: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱? Here’s to 30 years of impact, collaboration, and vision and to all the possibilities the future holds! ♿ 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 In honor of Disability Rights Week 2024 from December 2 to 6, we stand in solidarity with efforts to mainstream #disability rights across all policy fields. This annual event serves as a reminder that empowering individuals with disabilities is essential to building an #inclusive, #accessible, and #equal society. The European Parliament will host debates and discussions to further these goals, which resonate with the renewed 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎. Our projects at AKMI International are aligned with these values, focusing on enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities. These include initiatives such as the 𝙀𝙥𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙙𝙚 project, which aims to build capacities for teachers and trainers of adults with disabilities, in order to stimulate them contributing to the inclusion of the disabled population with fewer opportunities into the entrepreneurial sector. 🤝Join us in advocating for equal opportunities and a society that supports everyone. #DisabilityRights #EmpowermentForAll #SocialInclusion #AccessibleSociety #DisabilityWeek #EUDiversity #AKMIInternational #InnovationForInclusion #HumanRights

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the “𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀” session to discuss the future of adult learning in VET, in the content of European Training Foundation Adult learning in Vocational education and training event attending with my colleague Sotiria Tsalamani, co-organised by European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), European Vocational Training Association - EVTA, and EfVET. We explored how to make systems more relevant, inclusive, and impactful by addressing key challenges like sustainable funding, alignment with labor market needs, and outreach to disadvantaged groups. I highlighted insights from EVBB’s network, including the need for modular, AI-driven approaches that personalize learning and ensure agility in responding to industry demands. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀—VET providers, higher education, companies, and policymakers—is vital for designing inclusive training opportunities. One takeaway was the potential of initiatives like 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 and 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 to make lifelong learning accessible and empower individuals. As we navigate rapid societal changes, creating flexible yet robust policies is essential. I had the pleasure to discuss with the brilliant speakers with whom I had the pleasure of discussing just yesterday: Ms. Iryna Shumik (VET Director of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine), Ms. Cristina Mereuta (ALE Centre) and Ms. Cristina Mereuta from the ETF team. Many thanks to the European Training Foundation team and our colleagues from European Vocational Training Association - EVTA, EfVET and to all the organisers of this special week. What strategies do you think can make adult learning truly accessible and relevant? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
