Elafonisos Eco is taking decisive action to address the growing ecological threat of lionfish in Greek seas and the wider Mediterranean. 🌍 In collaboration with Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the Ocean Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou we recently joined the Greek Parliamentary Subcommittee on Water Resources to address the growing lionfish invasion in the Mediterranean. This invasive species threatens marine ecosystems, local fisheries, and tourism. Together with Chistos Kellas, Deputy Minister of Rural Development & Food of Greece, we're working to protect native species and marine ecosystems through sustainable, science driven solutions. We’re committed to raising awareness, fostering regional collaboration, and supporting sustainable solutions to protect our waters. Let’s work together to restore balance and safeguard marine biodiversity.

🗓️On 31st January 2025 a unique and innovative event took place aboard the MY Klelia 1, docked at Marina Zeas in Piraeus, Greece. This masterclass is the result of a collaborative effort between the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation , Elafonisos Eco and BCA College (BCA) to address one of the most pressing environmental challenges in the Mediterranean, the invasive #Lionfish. The event seeks to combine marine conservation with culinary innovation, turning an ecological threat into a culinary opportunity. 🐟Through this Lionfish Masterclass, yacht chefs gained hands-on experience in sustainable culinary practices, supported by Michelin-awarded renowned Chef Lefteris Lazarou The collaboration also included a premium pairing experience with Psaroulis Winery, elevating the culinary journey by matching expertly prepared Lionfish dishes with the winery’s exquisite Greek wines. This event did not only raise awareness about the environmental impact of Lionfish but also promoted a sustainable approach to cooking, helping chefs enhance their skills while contributing to marine biodiversity conservation.

Today, our team had the honor of being invited to the International University of Monaco to present the Elafonisos Eco Projects, with a focus on #Lionfish awareness, to the Master’s students in sustainability. It was a pleasure to share our knowledge and inspire them to become part of the solution. We were equally glad to connect with the students and learn more about the university’s mission to shape professionals committed to sustainability. Special thanks to Elena Tavella for hosting us it was truly a pleasure! 💚🐢
