The PoWER Project kicked off on November 6, 2024, with a dynamic online meeting, uniting partners from Spain, Greece, Malta, Turkey, and Cyprus. This includes sites of great ecological and cultural value, with more than 257 million people living in or near these areas. To protect these ecosystems and ensure their long-term sustainability, the tourism and hotel sector can implement measures such as: ♻️ Waste reduction: Through separation and composting, hotels and local businesses can minimize their impact on natural environments. 💧 Sustainable water management: Implementing water saving and reuse systems is key, as many biosphere reserves are located in areas vulnerable to water stress. 🌱 Use of local and sustainable products: This boosts the local economy and reduces the carbon footprint associated with transporting products. 🌍 Visitor education and awareness: Informing guests about the importance of biodiversity preservation, promoting responsible behaviors.
