Re-imagine culture-led regeneration of 9 urban empty spaces in an ecological way.
Σχετικά με εμάς
The Future DiverCities project is implemented by 13 European partners led by La Friche La Belle de Mai (Marseille) and experimented simultaneously in 9 cities: Berlin, Zagreb, Split, Kuopio, Marseille, Florence, as well as three European Capital of Culture in 2023 and 2027, respectively: Timişoara and Elefsina; Liepaja. The project is the continuation of a first Creative Europe project (2016-2020) implemented successfully by 10 partners in Europe and Canada which has explored new ways to work in challenging urban areas through participatory methodologies and co-designed digital tools. The cultural regeneration route has often led to the establishment of new built spaces, development of infrastructure and creation of landscape fixtures. With major changes in the way we inhabit our cities, it is becoming urgent to address urban cultural regeneration in a more ecological way, as the approach taken to date will not suffice to address the major challenge of building environmentally resilient cities. The partners involved are La Friche, coordinator (lafriche.org) and Seconde Nature (snzn.org) in Marseille (France), ANTI Festival (antifestival.com) in Kuopio (Finland), KONTEJNER (kontejner.org) in Zagreb and Split (Croatia), LAMA Impresa Sociale (agenzialama.eu) in Florence (Italy), Public Art Lab (publicartlab-berlin.de) in Berlin (Germany), BIOS (bios.gr) and European Creative Hubs Network-ECHN (creativehubs.net) in Athens (Elefsina, Greece), the City Council “Culture Department” (liepaja.lv) in Liepaja (Latvia) and PLAI (plai.ro) in Timişoara (Romania). The project also benefits from the expertise of INNOCAMP PL in Poland (Ashoka network) (innocamp.pl), LAMA Impresa Sociale in Italy (agenzialama.eu), Savonia University in Finland (savonia.fi) and Trajna in Slovenia (Krater project) (trajna.com; krater.si).

Chroniques and Friche la Belle de Mai are collaborating with several local collectives to revitalize a garden located on Rue de Crimée in Marseille. In partnership with Terrains Vagues and Pépins Production, the initiative aims to create a vibrant space where visitors can enjoy the garden while learning about the non-human species that inhabit it. The final Future DiverCities workshop of the year will take place in celebration of the Winter Festival at the Crimée garden on Wednesday, December 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at 19 Rue du Sud et du Père Thérobe in Marseille. The project team, alongside other local associations, led by Cultures du Cœur and Familles en Action, invites residents and neighbors to join a festive and welcoming afternoon to close out the year.

👏 Today and tomorrow, LAMA Impresa Sociale participates to this year’s Culture and Creativity Conference, Bautopia 5, organised by the European Creative Hubs Network with the support of DumBO Bologna . More info: https://lnkd.in/ekFAjeBy In the rapidly evolving landscape of the Cultural and Creative Sectors, sustainability is no longer just a goal but a necessity. The Conference entitled “People, Planet, Profit” highlights the interconnectedness of social, environmental, and economic dimensions, with a focus on how ecological responsibility and financial resilience must go hand in hand. Martina Aiazzi-Mancini and Dario Marmo from LAMA Impresa Sociale presented to the ECHN members their pilot site, the artistic residency of the Montagna Fiorentina, A dimora. They discussed the challenges, impacts and hopes in making art in rural areas. A dimora is part of a big cultural regeneration process that wants to rebuild and rethink life in remote areas. After the first two editions, LAMA, organiser and curator of the residency looks back at what has been achieved, old and new challenges and the social impact of the project. #a_dimora #futuredivercities #ruralarea #CreativeEurope #bautopia #ecology Friche la Belle de Mai; Chroniques; ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival; European Creative Hubs Network; bios, exploring urban culture; LAMA Impresa Sociale; KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art praxis; Centrul Cultural PLAI; Public Art Lab; Savonia University of Applied Sciences; Innocamp Poland

Our partner LAMA Impresa Sociale organised its second artist residency, A dimora. Summer 2024 saw Arianna Pace, Tommaso Mannucci (Monograff), and Ornella Cardillo exploring, investigating, and wandering through the village of Londa, with the aim of portraying the territory of the Montagna Fiorentina through their own gaze and practice. "A work of art is like a treasure chest whose power comes from the mystery it holds. Capturing its secrets requires an encounter between the work and the beholder—the spark: the wonder." Feet in the water, ears outstretched and gazing between sky heaven and earth, the artists invited the locals to a revealing encounter. The treasure chest opens and leaks bodies and intentions, desires and memories as well as small gifts - made of whispers and fleshy green leaves. In the three works of art, so different and viscerally linked, a sisterhood is revealed that is not universal but rather interpreted by each person and the enrichment of the encounter, in a fragment of joyful re-creation. ☀ This summer, our partner, Public Art Lab, organized an event at its pilot site titled “The River: Interfacing, Relational Mapping, and Storytelling.” The event was held in collaboration with Katja Aßmann, director of the Spreepark Art Space, Yin Boribun, and Prof. Myriel Milicevic along with her students from Design FH Potsdam. Watch the video to immerse yourself in the fascinating stories surrounding the river, and hear from local and international experts discussing the global 'Nature Rights' movement—an initiative aimed at rethinking nature as a legal entity and advocating for legal rights for ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/dYaEmjG7 #futuredivercities #naturerights #creativeeurope Friche la Belle de Mai; Chroniques; ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival; bios, exploring urban culture; European Creative Hubs Network; LAMA Impresa Sociale; KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art praxis; Centrul Cultural PLAI; Public Art Lab; Innocamp Poland; Savonia University of Applied Sciences

In September, the Future DiverCities Consortium met in Kuopio, Finland, hosted by its partners ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival and Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The meetings were intense and enriching, illuminated by the late summer sun. The event began with a collective presentation on artistic curation and implementation in pilot sites, sharing experiences and challenges through pictures and videos, and providing an overview of the collaboration with local coalitions. During the two-day meeting, the partners participated in several workshops on collective intelligence led by LAMA Impresa Sociale, a Prospective Impact Assessment Process conducted by Savonia University of Applied Sciences, visualization of the final stages of implementation led by Friche la Belle de Mai, and changemaking led by Innocamp Poland. This gathering also provided an opportunity to visit ANTI’s pilot site, Konepaja, and to disseminate the project during a visit to Kuopio City Hall, which included a presentation followed by discussions with local representatives. #creativeeurope #futuredivercities #urbaninnovation #collectiveintelligence #changemaking bios, exploring urban culture; European Creative Hubs Network; KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art praxis; Chroniques; Centrul Cultural PLAI; Public Art Lab; Liepaja; Trajna

▶ We are pleased to announce that our partner, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, has successfully delivered the Impact Assessment Protocol developed within the framework of WP2. The Impact Assessment Protocol is designed to assist the partners of Future DiverCities in determining the actions to be undertaken within the project. It provides them with the necessary tools to plan these actions and anticipate potential impacts. The protocol aims to enhance the specificity of the plans, enabling partners to create a clear understanding of the project's impacts and facilitate their further development. The primary objective is to foster discussions regarding the evaluation of impacts in regenerative projects. Additionally, it aims to facilitate the sharing of tools and expertise with a broader community of project stakeholders. The researchers from Savonia UAS conducted tests on the method and tools in the pilot sites of Kuopio (Finland) and Londa (Italy), collaborating with participating organizations such as ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival and LAMA Impresa Sociale, as well as their respective local coalitions. These tests were conducted to refine and ensure the practicality and replicability of the Impact Assessment Protocol at the site level.
