Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid! The concept of interconnectedness resonates deeply with the work of Albert-László Barabási, a pioneer in the study of complex networks. Barabási's research reveals how everything in our world, from biological systems to social networks, is linked through intricate webs of connections. His insights into the architecture of networks highlight the importance of hubs—key nodes that hold the network together and facilitate the flow of information and resources. In today's increasingly interconnected world, these lessons are more relevant than ever. Whether we're building professional networks on LinkedIn or fostering personal connections, the principles of complex networks can guide us in creating meaningful, resilient relationships. Let's celebrate the art of connection, both in our personal and professional. #ArtConnection #ReinaSofia #Madrid #ArtHistory #ComplexNetworks #Barabasi

💡 As cultural heritage professionals, adapting to current societal norms in our way of handling terminologies in collections and cultural works is essential. Language is not static; it evolves continuously, influenced by societal changes and social practices. Words and phrases that were once neutral or positive can become offensive, and vice versa. If you are engaged or interested in these matters, here are two key projects we are involved in that are breaking new ground in fostering inclusion: ➡️ MuseIT Project (Horizon Europe): This project is developing advanced technological tools and methods to provide a deeper understanding of word contexts and their semantic shifts, and help addressing offensive language related to disabilities when preserving cultural heritage. Read more here: https://shorturl.at/l5K7a ➡️ #DeBias Project: This initiative focuses on detecting harmful language surrounding various social and cultural themes within cultural heritage collections, such as those on Europeana. By addressing biases and offensive content, we aim to ensure that our shared cultural heritage is inclusive and respectful to all communities. More info here: https://shorturl.at/ZpWw3 Don’t hesitate to reach out for more information on these great initiatives! #Inclusion #CulturalHeritage #MuseIT #DeBias Europeana, Archives Portal Europe Foundation, KU Leuven, European Fashion Heritage Association, Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid, DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, Högskolan i Borås, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), ShareMusic & Performing Arts, EXUS, Catalink Ltd, King's College London, DANS, Actronika SAS, Ministero della Cultura

📌 In the Future DiverCities project, the pilot cities gathered in three groups, three clusters entitled Impermanence, Biodiversity, and Commoning. The Impermanence cluster includes Athens (bios, exploring urban culture), Florence (LAMA), and Timișoara (Centrul Cultural PLAI). Nearly two years after the project began, and amidst various changes, challenges, and a lengthy process to secure a space, what is the current situation of our three partners, and what does the concept of 'impermanence' mean in their new context? Impermanence acknowledges that cities are dynamic and evolving entities, and artistic interventions can act as catalysts for regeneration, revitalization, and community engagement. It emphasizes the temporary nature of artistic interventions, which may evolve, adapt, or disappear over time. By embracing impermanence, the artistic interventions proposed by the cluster encourage dialogue, reflection, and participation, allowing for new narratives, perspectives, and possibilities to emerge within the urban (Timișoara, Athens) or rural (Londa) environment. This challenges conventional notions of permanence in urban development in Athens and Timisoara and invites a more fluid and responsive approach to city creative transformation. The three partners propose to address the concept by engaging in prototyping diverse local coalitions in practices and actions to test future possibilities of spaces. They aim to involve all living beings, including non-speaking beings, and seek unexpected allies, such as private developers, while also including diverse city and town users. #futuredivercities #creativeeurope #Resilience #uncertainty #instability #legacy #adaptability #relevance #impact Friche la Belle de Mai; Chroniques; ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival; European Creative Hubs Network; KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art praxis; Public Art Lab; Savonia University of Applied Sciences; Innocamp Poland;

https://lnkd.in/eBpEsjzY I'm with #Budapest100 and colleagues: when is 'modern'? When does modern qualify as heritage? Can modern be accepted as heritage even if not everyone agrees - controversial heritage, dissonant heritage, heritage that is celebrated as European, even sometimes if not so by host countries or communities? I'm here to present the Europa Nostra European Heritage Award to Budapest100 for leadership in informed revelation and inspiring topical debate.

🏠 🏙It is becoming increasingly evident that the outcomes of the FuturHist project could significantly impact the partner cities. Cities like Kraków, for example, are in dire need of energy-efficiency solutions for historic buildings and eagerly anticipate our project's results. Life in Kraków magazine informs about FuturHist and its possible effects on the stock of historic buildings in Kraków due to the cooperation between the Cracow Uniwersity of Technology, Urząd Miasta Krakowa and other FuturHist partners. 👉 https://lnkd.in/du66qE_h

🐚 As part of the #CultureMovesEurope program, we are thrilled to announce the #opencall Echoing, addressed to artists interested in spending a period of residency in #Praiano, Amalfi Coast, between January 15 and February 28, 2025, to create a site-specific musical composition or performance that combines contemporary experimental sounds with the natural and environmental sounds of the Amalfi Coast in #winter. Posing as an antithesis to the noise pollution of the summer season, when the territory is crushed by the noises of land exploitation generated by #overtourism, the artists-in-residence's research will start from the exploration of sound and movement connected to the territory, moving between the sea and the mountains, from its magical rituals and mythologies of the past, resorting to listening to the ancient places and cosmologies guarded by local communities. The Amalfi Coast, like Echo, the nymph of the mountains that the gods turned into rock, has had its voice taken away. Through the research of the artists-in-residence, words will be returned to the territory so that they can tell their own story with their own sounds, rhythms, and temporalities. Through workshops involving the resident community as an intangible source of knowledge and know-how, it will be possible to experience, resurface, and reappropriate the ancestral sounds of the territory, exploring depths we no longer remember existed and creating an unprecedented narrative and sound mapping of the territory. The residency program is for 4 artists and was selected based on the conditions of Culture Moves Europe, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe Institut. 📍We're excited to play a key role at the Belgian pavilion for World Expo 2025 in Osaka! The theme? Designing future society for our lives. Belgium will captivate with a scenography co-created by Dirty Monitor, Tempora, Barco, ShowTex Asia and the PROFIRST team. We've shaped the concept of Human Regeneration. A heartfelt message about enhancing humanity, a call for renewal in the face of today’s challenges and a deep reflection on our capacity to change and progress. → We'll explore this profound narrative in 3 acts, focusing on healthcare within the “saving lives” sub-theme: 1) Preventing illness 2) Healing and restoring life 3) Pushing the boundaries of human life For artistic direction, we draw inspiration from Kintsugi. This ancient Japanese art form is a poignant metaphor for Human Generation, symbolizing how our broken pieces today can forge the golden bonds of tomorrow. ↳ Dive deeper into our vision by checking out the full press release (link in the first comment).

Whispers of the Deep When I first set eyes on Bust K, it had just been hauled from the Indian Ocean. It bore chips, scratches, and graffiti. I listened with sadness to its story: once a part of an underwater coral exhibit, intended to revive dying reefs after nearby construction caused damage – but the exhibit failed due to rising water temperatures, and its sculptures were cast aside as trash. While many saw Bust K as worthless, I saw an untold narrative to be unveiled. Despite its fractures, I envisioned Bust K as a mermaid escaping the ocean's clutches, rising to the surface for air amidst the sweltering heat – a mirror of our planet's struggle, an urgent plea for survival against the ever-rising ocean temperatures. And so, with crystals, broken glass, silver foil, and bio-resin, 'Whispers of the Deep’ emerged as I embarked on the journey to restore Bust K to the beauty she was destined for. Art has always been my refuge, a way for me to express the thoughts and emotions that elude words. I wanted to transform this damaged bust into a symbol of sustainability, demonstrating that even in moments of destruction and despair, hope prevails. Through our creativity, we have the power to enact change. Every artwork sold by Peace of Art aids underprivileged children through Young Hearts of Singapore Red Cross granting them opportunities beyond their grasp, regardless of background or circumstance. xx Peace of Art In exhibition at Centrepoint till 14 April 2024
