The third day of CrackSense consortium meeting concluded this year’s gathering with a visit to experimental sites in Kiato, led by partners from Agricultural University of Athens and PEGASUS AGRIFOOD COOP - 7Grapes. While the growing season of table grapes is still far ahead, the partners addressed plans and challenges in crop labeling and data collection via multi-sensor Tommy system, as well as challenges posed in front of local fruit growers, caused by climatic instability and droughts. The partners were also hosted by the Lafazanis Winery, where they were introduced with transgenerational experience in wine production, complemented with wine tasting. The second CrackSense Consortium meeting in Athens, Greece marks an important advancement in mutual effort towards fruit cracking mitigation. See you next year in Novi Sad, Serbia! We’re proud to announce that our work under the DiVine project, funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, has been published in Smart Agricultural Technology! 🎉 Our work has demonstrated how hyperspectral imaging, when combined with advanced machine learning techniques, can transform estimation of soil chemical properties. By refining feature extraction and selection methods, we’ve addressed key challenges like high-dimensionality and collinearity in spectral data, paving the way for more efficient, accurate, and cost-effective estimation. A huge thank you to our team and collaborators for making this progress possible and a special thanks to ΕΛΓΟ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ ELGO DΙΜITRA for their invaluable contribution to soil analysis. #HyperspectralImaging #MachineLearning #SoilHealthMonitoring https://lnkd.in/dzwRS-UF

📌 On Wednesday, December 11th, we successfully participated in the first training workshop of the "Smart Sowing" project—a collaborative initiative with ATHENIAN BREWERY S.A. / ΑΘΗΝΑΪΚΗ ΖΥΘΟΠΟΙΙΑ Α.Ε. and the Agricultural University of Athens AUA OFC. The event took place at the Grecotel Larissa Imperial Hotel. ℹ️ This first workshop served as an exciting deep dive into the innovative platform focusing on calculating the energy and economic balance and assessing the carbon footprint specifically for barley cultivation. A dedicated group of farmers had the opportunity to actively engage with the platform, inputting real data from their fields and gaining insights into their energy consumption metrics. This hands-on session was a crucial step in refining the platform’s features, gathering valuable feedback, and ensuring its functionality aligns with real-world farming needs.
