Our Lead Scientist, Professor Joshua Ho, and Co-Principal Investigator from The University of Sydney, Dr Pengyi Yang, along with their research teams contributed to a study of their Australian collaborators that details a new atlas of multilineage #stemcell differentiation and analysis pipelines to dissect genetic determinants of mammalian developmental physiology. Using #CRISPR/Cas9 barcoded human #iPSCs perturbed by inhibitors and activators of signalling pathways and multiplexed #scRNAseq, the study identifies #WNT-inhibitor TMEM88 as a key regulator of #bloodpressure in vivo. The #research offers valuable insights into #cardiovascular development and providing new tools for research. Our Chief Scientific Officer Emeritus Professor Gabriel Leung, Lead Scientist Professor Benjamin Cowling and Senior Research Director Dr Carlos Wong published a paper exploring the comparative effectiveness of antivirals and monoclonal antibodies for treating COVID-19 patients infected with the Omicron variant. The study found that nirmatrelvir/ritonavir and sotrovimab are associated with a probable reduction in mortality risk for patients infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, the use of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, remdesivir, or sotrovimab may lower the risk of hospitalisation for these patients. Our Lead Scientist Professor Ian Wong and his team recently published a research paper exploring the link between #statin therapy and #myasthenia gravis (MG).
