💧 Launch of the Pro-bono Online Mediation [Services/Scheme] for Water Seepage Disputes 💧 Water seepage may sound trivial, but it is actually one of Hong Kong’s prevalent community issues, often sparking disputes, sometimes even legal battles, between property owners and occupants. Now, eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre (“eBRAM”) is stepping in to help. In collaboration with the Agency for Volunteer Service (“AVS”), eBRAM is launching the Pro-bono Online Mediation [Services/Scheme] for Water Seepage Disputes. 🌟 Successful MOU Signing Ceremony: Advancing LawTech Innovation in the Greater Bay Area 🌟 To align with the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and promote the digital economy, eBRAM has taken another important step to enhance arbitration and mediation services with cutting-edge technology on November 28th. This event marked a major milestone in enhancing Hong Kong's LawTech and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) services. During the event, which was officiated by Dr. Horace Cheung SBS, JP, Deputy Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Dr. Thomas S.T. So JP, Chairman of eBRAM and Mr. Ronald Sum, JP, Vice Chairman of eBRAM, eBRAM signed Strategic Partner MOUs with eight organizations. These included the Hong Kong Minor Works Promotion Association, the Hong Kong Transport & Logistics Association, the IoT HK Association, the Smart City Consortium, the SME Global Alliance, the Hong Kong O2O E-Commerce Federation, The Chamber of Hong Kong Computer Industry, and the Macao SME Association. In addition, eBRAM welcomed the joining of the Hetao International Mediation Center and the Macau Institute of Professional Mediators for the GBA Online Dispute Resolution Collaborative Platform, and with the International Probono Legal Services Association (IPLSA) to nurture talent in the field of foreign legal services.   Innovative Platforms Driving Progress🌐 In July 2023, eBRAM launched the first GBA-wide “GBA Online Dispute Resolution Collaborative Platform”, creating a diversified mechanism for dispute resolution and leveraging the Greater Bay Area’s unique “One Country, Two Systems and Three Legal Jurisdictions” advantage. In December 2023, eBRAM officially rolled out the “Deal-making Platform”, a one-stop solution enabling businesses to explore partnerships and opportunities, with professional services such as legal, accounting, and tax advisory. To date, approximately 260 companies have registered as members of the platform. Promoting ESG for SMEs🌳 A special seminar, “When eSMEs Meet ESG”, was held after the ceremony, offering SME representatives insights into how ESG practices can drive growth. eBRAM remains committed to leveraging technology for promoting collaboration, enhancing legal infrastructure, and fostering integration across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau to build a world-class business environment in the Greater Bay Area. eBRAM's Participation in the Hong Kong Legal Community African Delegation We are thrilled to share that eBRAM was invited to participate in a nine-day African delegation organized by the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO). Represented by our Chief Technology Officer, Mr Albert Leung FCIArb MIET CEng PMP®, the delegation visited various regions, including Egypt, Cape Town, and Johannesburg in South Africa. The principle objective of this visit was to elevate the reputation and opportunities for Hong Kong professionals in the international legal services sector, further expanding Hong Kong's market share in international arbitration and mediation services. During the visit, Albert delivered a keynote address on the recent advancements and achievements in the fields of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) and LawTech in Hong Kong. He also highlighted that eBRAM offers customized solutions to assist enterprises in effectively managing legal risks within Belt and Road Initiatives, facilitating seamless trade and investment activities. Noteworthy is eBRAM's video conferencing system, integrated with artificial intelligence capable of recognizing multiple African languages, significantly enhancing the connectivity between African enterprises and other nations, thereby overcoming language barriers and fostering smooth cross-border communication and collaboration. The African businesses and institutions in the delegation expressed great interest and appreciation for eBRAM's Deal-Making Portal (DMP), ODR platform, and the video conferencing system's African language feature. They acknowledged that eBRAM's innovative technologies and service models present novel perspectives and solutions to challenges encountered in cross-border transactions, contract management, and dispute resolution. Integration in the Greater Bay Area: A New Chapter in Legal Collaboration On 13th November, the GBA Legal Seminar was successfully held! 🎉 Jointly organized by The Law Society of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), with the support from the Department of Justice, this seminar explored the evolving opportunities for legal integration across the Greater Bay Area.
