🌟 Technical Visit to Tai Po Sewage Treatment Works 🌟 🚀 An incredible visit to the Tai Po Sewage Treatment Works (TPSTW) was arranged on 14 December 2024. The visit began with a briefing on TPSTW’s history, capacity, and significance. Participants toured various sections of the plant. This visit was an eye-opener, providing participants with valuable insights into the processes and technologies used in wastewater treatment. 🚀 Tour Highlights: During the tour, participants visited the sedimentation tanks for solid removal, and the biological treatment using activated sludge and aeration. Further, participants also have a chance to understand more on the comprehended anaerobic digestion and the co-generation by the combined heat and power engine. Lastly, members were invited to visit the central control room and discussed with the operators and share the experience in the plant operation technique . IMechE deeply appreciates the detailed explanations and the opportunity to see these critical processes firsthand. Technical Visits and Talks of the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) - Earthquake and Tsunami Monitoring 🌊🌏 A remarkable Technical Visit to the Hong Kong Observatory was organized on 07 December 2024. The physical visit to the Seismograph Cellar and Backup South China Sea Tsunami Advisory Center (Hong Kong) provided members with a unique opportunity to delve into earthquake and tsunami detection methodologies. 👏👏 The visit commenced with participants being divided into two teams for an in-depth exploration of the facilities. Additionally, detailed talks were conducted to explain the scientific principles underpinning the monitoring of earthquakes and tsunamis in Hong Kong, offering valuable insights into the operational aspects of HKO.🤩🤩 IMechE expresses deep appreciation to the Hong Kong Observatory for hosting this enlightening visit and providing an exceptional learning experience for all participants.
