Recognising the unique challenges faced by educators and leaders across varied cultural and regulatory landscapes, we conducted an in-depth survey of child safeguarding in schools, gathering insights from over 100 educational organisations around the world. Our research offers a revealing look at current practices, challenges, and critical needs within the safeguarding framework, emphasising the importance of culturally sensitive, bilingual training. It was an absolute pleasure to work with the teachers at ULink College Guangzhou in their new campus as they prepared for the start of the academic year. We considered different key theories from psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science to identify ways that we can support students to become autonomous and intrinsically motivated learners. It was clear that building student independence and resilience are fundamental to the school, which is so important for shaping the adults that they will become and their future life success. We now know that neurodivergence is far more prevalent than originally thought, with an increasing number of adults being diagnosed in midlife with conditions such as ADHD, Dyslexia or Autism. We are delighted to welcome Joanne Robinson BA, MA, PGCE, FCCT as TeachUp's Director of Training and Development. Joanne will lead several TeachUp training initiatives, including new workshops on dynamic teaching and learning, behaviour for learning, and inclusive practice. Her goal is to make recent discoveries in neuroscience, psychology, and behavioural sciences accessible to teachers so they can provide powerful, inclusive learning experiences for their students.
