For the past two decades I've taught #businesscommunication courses as an adjunct professor. During that time, I've helped 100s of my students land amazing jobs at top Fortune 100 companies where they can put their newly-minted degrees to use. How? Using the training here in this short video which I've created using the 4Ps of Marketing framework, because: 📣 A #jobsearch is a #marketingcampaign 1️⃣ Product = YOU 2️⃣ Place = Where you work 3️⃣ Promotion = Resume + LinkedIn + Cover Letter + Portfolio, etc. 4️⃣ Price = Salary 5️⃣ Packaging = How you present yourself So, if you're about to #graduate and still looking for your first #careerposition, I promise you this will help. #missiondriven #studentsoflinkedin #professionaldevelopment #careerdevelopment

Iowa HR Recruiters: There will probably be an influx of educators coming here soon to look for new positions; online or in person jobs that get them out of the educational realm. Especially Iowa Area Education Agency employees. Know that they are all great people, hard workers and dedicated professionals. #formereducator #savetheaeas #onlinework

I understand your perspective, as I have also been in a similar position and turned down an offer for higher education. Dear Universities, If you support your students in pursuing their current degrees, they will be more likely to continue their education at your institution. It is unreasonable to charge a high-GPA student the full tuition and then offer them a scholarship while expecting them to accept it. No one wants to find themselves in a difficult situation again after just managing to overcome it. #Linkedin #University #HighGPA #Scholarships #recruitment #high_education #education

Hearing today from graduates who have been doing minimum wage jobs since graduating 4+ years ago with no prospect of this changing. It makes you wonder about the value of university education when you hear stories like this. I was surprised to learn from the two people that the university provided no support or guidance to help get them a suitable job. The university did however encourage them to continue their learning with a further degree, however, both declined the offer! It doesn't seem fair that high quality career support isn't provided (which is not just a tick box exercise) to those who need it.

Hiring managers need to do better. In many cases college degrees are simply a tool to arbitrarily limit the candidate pool so we are not over-taxed by the candidate review process. While we often have years of experience clauses built into out position descriptions, are we favoring candidates with degrees? In many cases the college / university degree is more an indicator of class privilege than effective performance and favoring these degrees is a way to reinforce and protect our caste system.
Americans can get behind dropping degree requirements—but employers and hiring managers keep propping up the 'paper ceiling'

How do you know your worth? So many career guides and self-help books tell the reader to "know their own worth." But how do you know what that is, especially if you are leaving behind an environment where you were never told you were good enough? And especially when it comes to salary negotiation, where you are quite literally putting a dollar amount on the worth of your labor...how do you know?!? It's another thing for PhD Pivoters to have to guess in the dark. And that is a long-winded way of saying...I have a forthcoming project on 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐏𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐭-𝐀𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬! 💰🎉 It's going to be a crowdsourced project, so I'll need everyone to participate 🤗 DM me for an early peek!
