Many of us have felt this way at some point—like our voices don’t matter, or that change is beyond our reach. 🔍 What steps can we take to remind ourselves that change often starts small but builds over time? 🌱 How do we challenge these feelings of disempowerment and reclaim a sense of agency in our communities? This quote is extracted from our research on perceptions about democracy published in April 2024. HERMES is currently implementing the Democracy Dialogues - DEMOS project in cooperation with the Erätauko Säätiö (Timeout Foundation - Finland) and Fundacja Wspierania Dialogu "Rozmawiajmy" / Dialogue Supporting Foundation "Let's talk" (Poland), with the support of the EU funding program KA220 - ADU - Cooperation partnerships in adult education. #EmpoweredCitizens

We often hear people speak of their rights, but how often do we talk about the responsibilities that come with them? In a democracy, it's not just about entitlement; it’s about stepping up to contribute, respect others, and make informed decisions. Are we focusing too much on what we're owed and not enough on what we owe to each other? 💡 What would our democracy look like if we prioritized responsibilities as much as rights? This quote is extracted from our research on perceptions about democracy published in April 2024. HERMES is currently implementing the Democracy Dialogues - DEMOS project in cooperation with the Erätauko Säätiö (Timeout Foundation - Finland) and Fundacja Wspierania Dialogu "Rozmawiajmy" / Dialogue Supporting Foundation "Let's talk" (Poland), with the support of the EU funding program KA220 - ADU - Cooperation partnerships in adult education. #RightsAndResponsibilities

In today’s world, the pursuit of financial stability often overshadows civic engagement. For many, the daily struggle to make ends meet leaves little time or energy for participating in democratic processes. 🔍 Can we create a society where people have the space to care about both their livelihoods and their civic duties? This quote is extracted from our research on perceptions about democracy published in April 2024. In a democracy, differing opinions are essential. But what happens when debate never reaches beyond partisan lines? 🔍 How can we build spaces that encourage genuine dialogue, not just divided debate? 🌍 "Our conditions are defined by our own choices." 🌍 In a world where we often look to institutions and leaders to steer the course, this perspective asks us to turn inward. Democracy isn’t just a system; it’s a reflection of the collective decisions we make, each choice shaping the society we live in. 🤔 Are we truly making choices that uphold the values we want for our future, or are we letting others decide for us? 📢 Join the conversation: What role do you think personal responsibility plays in shaping our democratic landscape? This quote is extracted from our research on perceptions about democracy published in April 2024. 🌍 This week, we successfully concluded our "Seeking Justice: From Nuremberg to The Hague" seminar series! Across four insightful sessions—two for educators and two for students—we explored key themes in international criminal law, from the Nuremberg Trials to contemporary cases at the International Criminal Court. ⚖️ In collaboration with EuroClio - European Association of History Educators, we brought together passionate teachers and students eager to deepen their understanding of justice, injustice, and how to teach these vital topics. A heartfelt thank you to all our incredible participants for their engagement and contributions, which made this online seminar series such a success!
