  • This Valentine’s Day, we celebrate love and passion for science. ❤️🔬 Pictured here is a fusion heart, a dust particle from the tungsten tile of the JET (Joint European Torus) fusion reactor. It was "captured" in 2016. by our scientists Dr. Stjepko Fazinic, Ivan Sudić, and Dr. Tonči Tadić from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, together with Prof. Dr. Per Petersson (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, #Sweden). This is not a story about scientific discovery but a small reminder that, in science as in love, patience, dedication, and understanding are crucial. If you're interested in the future of fusion, join us at the 3rd DONES Xcitech School in Dubrovnik from April 6–11, 2025, where we’ll work together to build the foundations of tomorrow’s energy! Because all you need is love for a beam of fusion. 📍 More info ➡ https://lnkd.in/d8Gg3PCR Heads-up for FESB - Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture Faculty of Engineering RITEH University of Rijeka University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science Jozef Stefan Institute University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu

  • How do we inspire the next generation of scientists? It all starts with curiosity, and the students at Prirodoslovna škola Vladimira Preloga were full of questions at the Women in Science event organised by the school in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Four researchers showed high school students just how exciting science can be: Dr. Jelena Godrijan, Division for Marine and Environmental Research at IRB, Martina Pavlek, Division of Molecular Biology at IRB, Dr. Nataša Šijaković Vujičić, Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at IRB, and prof. Dr. Nives Galic from the Department of Analytical Chemistry at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science Each scientist shared not just their research, but their personal journeys in science that consist of discoveries, challenges, and yes, even the difficulties they encounter along the way. The students discovered that being a scientist isn't just about lab coats and equations – it's about creativity, problem-solving, and having fun while pushing the boundaries of knowledge!

  • Women are leading the way in science at IRB! 🏆 At Ruđer Bošković Institute, we take pride in being above both the Croatian and EU average in female representation in science: ✅ 60% of PhD holders at IRB are women. ✅ 64% of PhD students at IRB are women. ✅ 65% of research assistants and postdocs are women. However, science knows no gender - only excellence, curiosity, passion, and persistence! On International Day of Women and Girls in Science let’s inspire the youth of the world, both girls and boys to pursue science and work towards greater gender balance in leadership. #WomenInScience #STEM #LeadershipMatters #ScienceForAll
