📢 NEW AIRLINE, NEW DESTINATION! 🛫 BUD-CIT 🛫 Budapest Airport announces a new airline, SCAT airlines, offering new direct flights to Kazakhstan Just six weeks into the new year and another new airline is added to the schedule of Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network. The new direct service between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan, will be operated by SCAT Airlines from 27 May, adding a completely new destination to Budapest Airport’s ever-expanding portfolio. SCAT Airlines will operate flights between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, utilising state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8200 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for passengers. The initial operation is planned for the whole year, starting in May, providing travelers from Kazakhstan and Kazah residents in Hungary smooth air connectivity. The two connections will operate from October 2025 to April 2026, in response to the growing demand for flights between Hungary and the UK. With the flights to East Midlands Airport and Newcastle, Jet2.com now offers six UK destinations from Budapest. The new connections support Budapest Airport’s development strategy focusing on diversification and building a route network that is as varied as possible, to meet different needs. ✅ Sustainable aviation fuel available in Budapest from January Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, has achieved an important milestone in sustainability. Budapest Airport’s subsidiary, Airport Fuel Supply Ltd., has successfully passed the audit criteria for the introduction of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Ferenc Liszt International Airport. Certification is a prerequisite for the airport operator to provide airlines with the minimum 2% sustainable aviation fuel from 1 January 2025, as required by the relevant regulation.
