Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2024 EU-Singapore #ECCPMatchmaking event! Last week, our EU Delegation embarked on an inspiring journey to Singapore, where we witnessed the power of collaboration between #EUClusters, SMEs, and Singaporean innovators. Together, they’re shaping the future of cross-border partnerships and opening doors to new opportunities across Europe and Southeast Asia! 🤝 On Day 1 we facilitated 107 matchmaking meetings, connecting European and Singaporean organisations. As Sonia Fernández Mañas, Project & Partnerships Director at AMEC (Asociación Multisectorial de Empresas), shared: “Having all actors together in one room on the same day is matchmaking at its best!” 💡 Day 2 took us to the Asia Clean Energy Summit, where participants pitched their organisations and explored collaborations. We then visited the Singapore Discovery Centre to learn about local innovations, followed by APPLIED TOTAL CONTROL TREATMENT PTE LTD to discover cutting-edge surface and coating technologies. 💡 On the final day, we explored Clean Kinetics Pte Ltd, diving into Singapore’s thriving solar energy landscape. CEO Wilson Lee shared insights into their journey in solar PV development and the promising growth opportunities within Singapore’s renewable energy sector. Our last stop was the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, where we exchanged best practices on sustainability. Feeling Grateful and Inspired After the EU-SG Matchmaking Event 2024! 🇪🇺️🤝🇸🇬 It has been a true privilege to organise and manage the EU-Singapore Matchmaking Event 2024 on-site on behalf of the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), alongside my #ECCP colleagues, Flaviu Iorgulescu and Martina Fumagalli. What an extraordinary experience it has been! Over these few days, we witnessed firsthand the impact of meaningful collaboration between EU clusters, SMEs, and Singaporean counterparts, paving the way for innovative cross-border partnerships and new business opportunities. Highlights of the Event: 🔹 On the matchmaking day, we facilitated over 107 one-on-one meetings between European and Singaporean organisations. This created the perfect platform for discussions on market expansion, joint ventures, and collaborative innovation. 🔹 On Day 2, participants had the opportunity to attend the Asia Clean Energy Summit and pitch their clusters or SMEs, exploring partnerships across Southeast Asia. In the afternoon, we joined an Eco Sustainability Tour at the Singapore Discovery Centre, learning about Singapore's green initiatives and sustainability plans. This was followed by a visit to Applied Total Control Treatment Pte Ltd, where we discovered advanced surface finishing and coating technologies that are crucial for aerospace, semiconductor, and biomedical industries. 🔹 On Day 3, we continued our journey of exploration with visits to key sites, including Clean Kinetics, where we delved into developments in solar energy solutions, and the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, highlighting innovative approaches to urban sustainability. 🌍 New Opportunity for EU Border Regions 🌍 The European Commission has launched the Resilient Borders initiative in collaboration with the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) and the Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière (MOT), aimed at improving cross-border crisis management and spatial planning in border regions. What benefits can participating regions receive? ◾ Up to €40,000 in grants to create joint plans. ◾ Support for coordinating local actors in crisis management or developing common governance through cross-border spatial planning. 📅 Deadline to submit proposals: 30 November 2024 This financial support represents a unique opportunity for regions to collaborate and jointly address the challenges they face.
