🎓 Event Recap: Leading Organisation Culture Change with Professor Patrick Gibbons We were honored to host Professor Patrick Gibbons, Jefferson Smurfit Professor of Strategic Management at University College Dublin, for an insightful Executive MBA open class on Leading Organizational Culture Change. On 7th November, 40 Executive MBA alumni, current and prospective students gathered for an insightful evening exploring the vital connections between organisational culture and strategy. Professor Gibbons, guided by the inspiring words of John Quincy Adams — “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader” — led an engaging and interactive class covering essential topics such as: • The various forms of good organizational cultures: e.g. adaptive, fearless, and learning; • The functions of organizational culture; • The relationship between culture and performance, and culture and leadership. Throughout this interactive session, participants practiced the five steps of exemplary leadership and discussed the role of psychological safety and accountability in creating a learning and high performing zone. They also reflected on effective leaders who have had a positive impact on people around them. We are excited to announce the successful launch of our Class of 2026 in the Corvinus-MSM-SEED Executive MBA programme on 27th September! This year, we are proud to welcome 30 participants from 10 different nationalities, each making the bold decision to embark on this 2-year journey with us. Together, the class brings an impressive 474 years of combined professional experience across diverse industries, ranging from Consulting and Logistics to Aviation. We are especially thrilled to see an increase in female representation, with women making up 27% of this year’s cohort. Over the next two years, students will engage in teamwork, simulations, case studies, and real-world problem-solving. With personalized mentorship and the support of our dedicated faculty, they will develop the skills to become effective and responsible leaders thriving in a complex international business environment. On Friday morning, Andrea Toarniczky (Programme Director of Corvinus Executive MBA) welcomed participants. It’s a wrap! Our International Perspectives on Responsible Leadership week, co-hosted by MaastrichtMBA, came to an end last Friday. The aim of the week was to showcase different perspectives on leadership, with a focus on the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. The central element of the programme was the concept of Flow, which participants engaged with through FLIGBY - The Leadership Game, a soft skills leadership simulation. During the ‘Gender and Leadership in CEE’ interactive workshop, we welcomed female leaders and experts from various industries. Participants explored the socio-economic and cultural factors influencing gender roles in leadership, as well as the current challenges and success stories related to gender equity in leadership positions within the CEE region. In a case competition, students worked together in small groups on three consecutive phases of a very recent, real-life case involving a potential M&A transaction. Throughout the week, we visited three companies – Zwack Unicum Plc, JÓkenyér - Ludwig&Mentesi Kft. and Ízlelő – where founders, CEOs, and executives shared the unique leadership challenges they face in this region. We would like to thank all participants for their engagement and active contributions! We hope that the sessions, company visits, and discussions helped you better understand your leadership style and sparked ideas on how to develop into a responsible and authentic leader who finds Flow in leadership. A warm welcome to UMIO | Maastricht University’s Global Executive MBA students who are participating in our International Perspectives on Responsible Leadership week between 24-28 June! The participants represent an impressive 16 nationalities and come from various industries, including IT, Engineering, Consultancy, Cybersecurity, and Biotechnology. On Monday morning, peter berends, Management & Leadership Coach and lecturer in the Leading Strategic Change module of the MaastrichtMBA program, ✷Zoltan Buzady, M.B.A., Ph.D., Habil.✷, Associate Professor at Corvinus University of Budapest and Director of Leadership & Flow Global Research Network, and Andrea Toarniczky Ph.D., Program Director of Corvinus Executive MBA and Associate Professor at Corvinus University of Budapest, welcomed the students. Participants then engaged in teambuilding activities aimed at promoting psychological safety in the group and increasing group cohesion while having fun. To gain a real glimpse of the leadership challenges in the CEE region over the last 150 years, in the afternoon, we visited Zwack Unicum Plc, a family-owned company producing the famous Hungarian liqueur, Unicum, which survived the turbulent times of the world wars and the Communist regime. On Tuesday, participants will start engaging with the concept of Flow through interactive classes led by ✷Zoltan Buzady, M.B.A., Ph.D., Habil.✷. The aim of this course is for participants to discover their personal-professional Flow ‘Zone’ in leadership and professional creativity, on their way to finding more meaning and joy in being a responsible and authentic leader.
