With both the NBA and NHL Finals wrapping up this week, unless the Edmonton Oilers force a seventh game that is, there’s bound to be waves of bliss and anguish amongst the winners and losers respectively. For those invested in the outcomes, the footwear industry is still serving up plenty of releases to either celebrate with, or pick up as a consolation prize. MSCHF, Jordan Brand, Nike, New Balance and adidas have all prepared releases worth checking out. However, before we let you know which drops you should mark on your calendar, let’s review the past week’s key footwear news.
On the feature side of things, we caught up with HUF creative director Romeo Tanghal to break down how the brand’s latest project with Nike on the Air Max 1 is dedicated to the “real heads.” The Swoosh was also in the news as LeBron James flexed a wear test sample of his upcoming Nike LeBron 22. Another early preview we spotted was of a Nike SB-designed Air Force 1 Low that is rumored to be releasing next year. As for its Jumpman-wielding subsidiary, the Air Jordan 4 RM made three official image appearances — surfacing in “Oxidized Green,” “Black/Light Bone” and “Light Legend Brown.” Meanwhile, the rumor mill stayed busy with word of the Air Jordan 3 arriving in “Valentine’s Day” and “Lucky Shorts”-themed looks in 2025.
Elsewhere in the industry, adidas had two of its forthcoming collaborative projects revealed — the adidas Fear of God Athletics 1 “Black Toe” and JJJJound x adidas Samba “Tobacco” alongside its accompanying apparel range. Other collaboration-oriented news involved Ronnie Fieg revealing two colorways of the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 that he designed and a closer look at Salehe Bembury’s upcoming New Balance 530 project.

Why You Should Cop: For everyone who failed to win the raffle — or in my case, failed to enter it at all due to the overwhelming amount of web traffic — for Nina Chanel Abney’s Air Jordan 3s, Nike is set to offer a second chance at grabbing a pair with its own release of the artsy kicks. Equipped with a “Bicoastal” green that is complemented by sections of off-white and then accented by hits of orange, the design is one of the 36-year-old silhouette’s most unique to date.

Why You Should Cop: Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance are back at it again as Teddy Santis continues to juggle not only an array of New Balance projects via his brand, but as the leader of the American sportswear brand’s MADE in USA division as well. Last week the two launched their three colorways of the newly-returned 1000 silhouette as the model continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Now, a restock of the “Cream” colorway is set to take place for anyone that missed out — sporting a versatile arrangement of white, gray and cream hues.

Why You Should Cop: 19 years ago, NEIGHBORHOOD and adidas created an important piece of sneaker history with their collaborative take on the Superstar that celebrated the model’s 35th anniversary. Now, with NEIGHBORHOOD enjoying its 30th anniversary, the two are commemorating the occasion by revisiting their first project. With it limited to just 300 pairs back in 2005, this widespread launch of the recreation is sure to satisfy many collectors who have been after a pair for decades. Key details include a black upper accented by NEIGHBORHOOD motifs in white, as well as an off-white sole unit and black shell toe.

Why You Should Cop: Nike’s acquisition of Web3 platform RTFKT has led to many projects between the two, often existing in both the digital and physical spaces. Their latest team-up is the conclusion to the rollout of the Dunk Genesis “Void” as the remaining 1,000 pairs of the 11,394 total are set to drop via SNKRS. Inspired by video games, this take on the Dunk silhouette features removable mods and interchangeable vials, which can be recreated thanks to RTFKT’s 3D files that are available on its site.

Why You Should Cop: It’s been a couple of years since Song for the Mute and adidas first teamed up to introduce their collaborative Shadowturf design.
