Mangroves play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance, protecting coastlines from erosion, providing habitats for fish, and absorbing carbon to mitigate climate change. We thank Agromaritim for featuring us on YouTube and highlighting our initiative to plant 5,000 mangrove trees at Pantai Mekar, Muara Gembong, Bekasi. On September 23, 2024, FishLog, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia and the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH), held a ceremonial mangrove planting at Pantai Mekar, Muara Gembong, Bekasi. Our valued guests and partners, local community members, and Marine Science students from IPB attended the event. Here are the highlights of our event. Waste management has become a major concern for the sustainability of Indonesia's fisheries industry. According to data from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, 2 million tons of waste from the national fisheries production are discarded and left unutilized each year.
