Shinnyodo Temple in Kyoto! My favorite place to see the maple leaves

🌟Highlights: I visited Kyoto and Osaka from December 7 to 10, and went to Shinnyodo Temple on the morning of December 9. It was my favorite place to see the maple leaves on this trip. Compared to other famous places like Tofukuji Temple and Eikando Temple, the maple trees in Shinnyodo Temple are tall, graceful, and well-spaced. It is also far from the hustle and bustle of the city, with few tourists and a quiet environment. Whether you are walking along the temple path or standing under the maple trees in the courtyard, the tranquility and solemnity of the red leaves and the ancient temple will calm your mind. ❤About the attraction: Shinnyodo Temple, also known as Shinsho Gokuraku-ji Temple, is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. It was built in 984 AD and has a history of over 1,000 years. The three-story pagoda and bell tower from the Edo period are representative of traditional Japanese architecture. Shinnyodo Temple is also the family temple of the Mitsui Group, one of the three major zaibatsu in Japan. The tombs of Mitsui Takatoshi and his family members are located in Shinnyodo Temple. 📝Tips: Shinnyodo Temple is very close to Eikando Temple. You can walk from Shinnyodo Temple to Eikando Temple, or take a bus. We took the bus both ways. The best time to see the maple leaves is from mid-November to early December. Admission to Shinnyodo Temple is free, but you need to pay a 500 yen worship fee to enter the main hall. Shinnyodo Temple is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tripods are not allowed indoors, but they are allowed outdoors. The three-story pagoda and bell tower with the red leaves make for great photos.
