AIB CEO, Colin Hunt and Chief Operating Officer, Andrew McFarlane were delighted to welcome AIB’s top suppliers to Molesworth Street last week for the AIB Supplier Summit. This event was an opportunity to engage with AIB’s partners and suppliers and share the work AIB is doing to empower people to build a sustainable future. AIB’s Chief Operating Officer, Andrew McFarlane said “Our partners are core to how we operate. To succeed, we must all hold ourselves to high standards and operate in a sustainable way. We were delighted to introduce our supplier partners to the new AIB Supplier Sustainability Programme, which will build on AIB’s existing sustainable procurement processes where sustainable practices inform procurement decisions. The new programme will span a number of focus areas including a greater focus on transparency as well as a Supplier Sustainability Academy to support our partners as we all build these critical skills for the future.” AIB’s Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer Mary Whitelaw said “It was really exciting to see strong energy and engagement around sustainability in the room, it was clear that our suppliers recognise the importance of sustainability and opportunities to collaborate with AIB in this space. Four years ago we brought our suppliers together to introduce our Responsible Supplier Code and it was fantastic to reflect on our progress and evolve with the introduction of the new AIB Supplier Sustainability Programme. It goes without saying that we care about who we do business with – and alignment on sustainability priorities matters.”

In keeping with AIB’s purpose of empowering people to build a sustainable future, we have upgraded all our ATMs with increased functionality for people who are visually impaired. All ATMs and cash and cheque lodgement machines now deliver voice guidance functionality for cash withdrawals, balance enquiries, mini statements and PIN services. All customers need to do is insert their headphones into the device. Barry O’Donnell, volunteer advocate from Voice of Vision Impairment said “In a world that is becoming increasingly inaccessible, this will be a game-changer for our independence. AIB heard our voice, and the installation of the AIB accessible ATMs with voice guidance is an important milestone for visually impaired people in Ireland. Thanks again for making accessibility a reality and as an end-user, it’s excellent to have access to extra features.”

We continue to support our customers in their transition to a more sustainable future.   Uniphar’s sustainability transition journey has progressed hugely in recent years. As its business grows and geographical footprint expands, Uniphar remains committed to its sustainability goals, including meeting its SBTi targets, which were approved earlier this year.   AIB is proud to act as Sustainability Coordinator for Uniphar’s Sustainably Linked Loan, while Goodbody Clearstream has provided sustainability advisory services to Uniphar for the past 4 years.
