Blockchain Ireland met with the Central Bank of Ireland yesterday for a discussion on current regulatory issues. In a very productive exchange, Blockchain Ireland and the CBI discussed working together more effectively to ensure organisations are better prepared for regulatory engagements. MiCAR Updates The CBI gave clarification regarding the recent tender for a multi-party framework agreement for the provision of expert services in the area of crypto assets for Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). The Central Bank of Ireland outlined: - Authorisations under MiCAR were in no way dependent on the award or operation of these services. - They remain confident in its readiness and ability to engage with all organisations wishing to undergo a crypto assets service provider (CASP) authorisation process in its jurisdiction. Important to note, under European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), there are no MiCA pre-approvals. You are either approved and have a MiCA license or you do not. Further updates will be shared within Blockchain Ireland’s Legal & Regulatory Working Group.
