The UK digital tech ecosystem is now valued at $1 trillion. The UK is only the third country to pass this milestone after the US and China, offering a great environment for businesses to grow within the industry. This year the UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT) launched the department’s first global tech awards, the Unicorn Kingdom: Pathfinder Awards (UKPA), to unearth and showcase the most promising scale up companies in the tech industry. Today at the Embassy, we welcomed the three Irish companies who were European winners in the Pathfinder Awards, having competed with companies from across the continent. Ireland was the country with the largest amount of applicants from Europe - which is a testament to the depth of talent, vision, and entrepreneurship that exists in the Irish tech industry. His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner Chris Barton CMG and British Ambassador Paul Johnston were present to personally congratulate biologit, Future Mobility Ireland and Gallarus Industry Solutions on their achievement. The UKPAs are the largest Global awards for tech scale-ups the UK has ever seen, and are focussed on finding the next generation of future Unicorns in the areas of AI, Cyber security, Digital Trade Solutions, and Connected Automated Mobility. Today, the Global semi-finals took place and Ireland was well represented by European Regional winner in AI (biologit), European Regional winner in Connected Automated Mobility (Future Mobility Ireland) and Regional European winner in Digital Trade Solutions (Gallarus Industry Solutions).
