At least 60 tents in the heart of Dublin this morning. People sleeping rough after being told to leave City West. A reckless decision. We met people yesterday who had been accommodated for days and then told to go to the streets for the first time. This is not normal. This is not lawful. Change needed now. Irish Refugee Council will continue to provide urgent casework and legal support to people who are homeless and advocate for change, and compliance with the law, from this government and the next.

🎉 Highlights from our recent symposium event celebrating our Elevate Youth Arts project! 🎭🎶 The evening was a powerful showcase of young talent through the Rising Voices performance, featuring song, dance, and spoken word, which they co-created with Theatre For Transformation and KELVIN AKPALOO. Luyanda and Divin did an amazing job hosting the event. We had the opportunity to hear NIKE MONISOLA AWOYEMI, Angela Veale and Chriszine Backhouse share insights researching and developing the project. Nike, a young leader in our Youth Group, spoke about the role of arts projects in supporting young people develop a sense of belonging. This was followed by a panel discussion with youth arts professionals which was moderated by Daniel Kamenyezi. Thanks to Rhona Dunnett, Kate Delaney, and Susan Holland for sharing insights on how to make youth arts accessible to all young people in Ireland, the importance of nurturing young leaders, and reminding us that access to culture is a human right. Moderated by KELVIN AKPALOO, our final panel had three young people who participated in the project-Elmer, Neo and Abdul Hadi. They captivated the audience with their stories of shared experiences and the transformative impact of Elevate Youth Arts, using their voices to inspire other young people to join similar initiatives. We're grateful to Helen O' Keeffe for creating beautiful graphic for the event. Thanks to all who came to witness the talent and listen to what the young people had to say.
