Irish Funds was delighted to attend EFAMA‘s Investment Management Forum #IMF2024 in Brussels today. Day one included insightful keynotes and discussions with Verena Ross European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and John Berrigan European Commission expertly interviewed by EFAMA’s Tanguy van de WERVE and thought provoking panel sessions focusing on driving EU competitiveness under the lens of the Savings and Investment Union and the recent Draghi and Letta reports and recommendations. Private markets being crucial to help finance the required change and a need to simplify and harmonise rules. How do we build a strong capital market that attracts investment, provides returns for investors and supports EU growth? John Berrigan made the point that this is a partnership - the Commission and National member states need to work to create a full package and ecosystem which supports better access, targeted financial literacy measures and important National tax incentives to domestic retail investors to drive the change needed. Day two focused on the investor as the panelists and keynotes spoke about the need to simplify the #Retail Investment Strategy, value for money, costs and transparency and the need to build scale and reduce complexity. The value of pension tracking systems and dashboards and the implementation of auto enrolment being key measures that are needed to help investors. The event concluded with an important discussion on #sustainablefinance, labelling and the requirement to enable the green transition. Thank you to EFAMA for hosting such a fantastic event.
