A week or two later than Kota's Home screen launch, but here's a peek of our path to the final version. After 50ish iterations, we landed on something that felt right. Not a huge number for such an important feature, but I always enjoy seeing the progress from an almost blank canvas to a production-ready screen.
🤝 Kota team spotlight: Meet Paolo Fulgoni, our senior backend engineer who brings an Italian grace and sophistication to the team 🇮🇹 Over to you, Paolo: 👋 I'm Paolo, a passionate software engineer based in Italy, where I work remotely. For nearly 15 years, I've enjoyed solving complex problems in different industries, from computer vision to financial services. 🚀 Outside of work, I love gardening, walking my dog, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts. I also play the piano sometimes—something I want to do more in the future. I also make sure to spend quality time with my children. I believe that curiosity and an open mind help us grow in both work and life. 🌱 What Do I do at Kota? I’ve been at Kota for almost two years, working on projects that improve employee benefits. One of the most exciting projects has been helping build Kota Embedded from scratch. It’s been amazing to see it grow and work with the team to make it happen. 🔧 Right now, we are focusing on making it easier to add new insurance providers. It’s a big challenge, but I look forward to improving our process and making it faster. ⚡ What is the biggest problem I want to solve within Kota? I have worked remotely for years, so I know how difficult it can be for companies to give equal benefits to employees in different countries. At Kota, I want to help solve this problem—making sure every employee gets fair and simple benefits, no matter where they live. This is something I’m proud to be part of. 💼 What’s the best thing about working for Kota? Kota has great energy. We move fast, launching new features and solving problems every day. It’s exciting to be part of a team that is changing the industry so quickly. 🌍 But the best part is the people. I work with talented and experienced colleagues, and I learn something new every day. 🤝

This post is going up as I celebrate one year here at Kota. I have spent the last 3 years working in business development / Go-to Market function in the HR Tech space, for HRIS companies like Factorial and Workday. Before that I had worked in Financial Services for BOI and AIB. From early on I loved it and knew it was something I could see myself in long term. Fast forward a few years and here I am at Kota and still loving it. 👨💻 What Do I work on at Kota? I work as part of the Go-To-Market team at Kota. Primarily having introductory conversations with HR Leaders about their benefits strategies (so for your sins you may well have heard from me at some stage over the past year 😂). ⭐ What is the biggest problem you want to solve within Kota? I am also a user of Kota and It is the first time I have truly realised the value of the benefits package that I am being offered. If I can get Kota in front of more teams I am very confident that the product will help employers and employees create a significantly better all round experience when it comes to benefits and the product is only getting better. 💼 What’s the best thing about working for Kota? From the first conversation with Matthew I could feel the buzz Kota had and it’s only getting better. Everyone here is committed to making a difference and building something really great. At the same time it’s a great team to be a part of and I feel like everyone is enjoying the journey. One of my favourite quotes is: “Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.” And although we’re definitely not taking too much time to pause we are definitely enjoying the pursuit we’re on 🏔️

Last Thursday, Kota and Ravio the pleasure of being joined by Alistair Fraser, Vaso Parisinou, and Luke Mackey in the beautiful Dawn Capital Offices to talk all things benefits and compensation 🤩 A huge thank you to our attendees and speakers who led the discussion- some of the key talking points: 📣 Communication is as important as data in pay transparency conversations. 💰 There's a growing trend of earlier stage companies implementing bonus structures beyond the typical revenue-generating roles. 📲 Benefits can play a bigger role in compensation, but until now communicating their value to employees has been a challenge.
