The People Of Lakeland Dairies 📌 Meet Jim Rossborough: Powerlifting Champion and Lakeland Dairies Team Member. At Lakeland Dairies, we are proud to have a diverse and talented team, and Jim Rossborough, a valued member of our Newtownards team, is a perfect example of this. Jim has worked with us for over 10 years, consistently bringing dedication and hard work to everything. But Jim’s talent doesn’t end at the factory floor—he’s also a world-class powerlifter with a passion for lifting that has taken him around the world. Jim represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the World Masters Powerlifting Championship and the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship in Sun City, South Africa.  Jim demonstrated his impressive strength, winning a gold medal in the bench press by lifting an incredible 140kg, as well as a bronze medal for a 190kg squat. With over 1,000 athletes from 40+ countries competing, it was a challenging event, but Jim’s commitment and hard work paid off.  Jim’s journey to the world stage is truly inspiring, particularly considering that he has only been competing at this level for the past eight years. 💪 🥇 We’re incredibly proud to have Jim as part of our team at Lakeland Dairies Newtownards - especially when there’s some heavy lifting to be done! 🌱 Nine students awarded Lakeland Dairies’ bursary! 🌱   We're excited to announce that nine talented students have been awarded the first-ever Lakeland Dairies “Pathway To A Better Future” Bursary! These outstanding individuals, who represent the next generation of agricultural leaders, will receive €2,000 / £2,000 each to support their academic pursuits in agricultural science, dairy science, and engineering.   The bursaries were awarded after a rigorous selection process, which saw nearly 100 applicants from across Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This initiative is part of Lakeland Dairies’ sustainability strategy launched in 2023, aimed at supporting innovation and education in the agricultural sector.   Meet the nine recipients:   1. 🔵 Lakeland Dairies appoints new independent Director 🔵 Lakeland Dairies has co-opted Bernard Doherty to its Board of Directors. With an extensive career spanning decades in tax, accounting, and business advisory services, Mr. Doherty will serve as an independent non-executive director on the Board. He brings a wealth of expertise that will be instrumental in supporting Lakeland Dairies’ ambitious value-add strategic direction, both nationally and internationally. Mr. Doherty, formerly Head of Tax at Grant Thornton, is widely recognised for his exceptional track record in providing financial, strategic, and operational guidance to national and international businesses across a diverse range of sectors including food and agriculture. Mr. Doherty also has significant experience in complex transactions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), reorganisation projects, and high-value tax interventions. Lakeland Dairies collects 2bn litres of high-quality milk from 3,200 farm families across 17 counties in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The co-operative serves more than 100 global markets with 240 products." Announcing Bernard Doherty’s appointment to the Board, Lakeland Dairies’ Chairperson Niall Matthews said: 'Bernard’s high-level expertise in strategic and operational leadership, alongside his proven track record in driving growth, M&A, will be a valuable asset to Lakeland Dairies as we expand our footprint at home and abroad. 📌 Lakeland Dairies supporting our communities A week on from #StormÉowyn, its effects are still being felt across the country. As ESB, ESB Networks and Uisce Éireann Irish Water staff work tirelessly to restore power and water, some communities remain without essential services. As a co-operative rooted in our communities, Lakeland Dairies has been answering the call to support those impacted in any way we can. This week, one of our tankers has been providing water to a community in #Cavan this week after a request was made to our Board member, John Cooney. Thanks to John and the #PeopleOfLakelandDairies, we were able to provide much-needed water to the community in Crosskeys.
