The last of our 2024 content reflections: Your Favourite Conversation! 🎙️ One of the year’s most popular pieces of content was our podcast episode where I sat down with executive coach Eamon Foley to explore the connection between values, culture, and leadership success. 💡 Key takeaways from the episode: 1️⃣ Strong values and culture are essential to delivering a company’s vision - but they need to be operationalised to come to life. Vision alone isn’t enough; it’s about embedding it in daily actions and decisions. 2️⃣ Emotional intelligence and relationship-building aren’t just “nice to haves” - they’re at the heart of effective leadership. Leaders who can connect with their teams inspire trust, collaboration, and performance. 3️⃣ Executive coaching is a powerful tool for leadership development, helping leaders grow, align with their purpose, and navigate challenges with clarity. This conversation resonated because it tackled the real work of leadership: making visions tangible, fostering meaningful relationships, and building a strong, values-driven culture. If you haven’t yet listened to this episode, it’s a must for anyone committed to developing as a leader or creating impact in their organisation (link in comment below 👇). As we reflect on the past year, we’re grateful for the conversations that challenged us, inspired us, and helped us grow. Here’s to more impactful discussions in 2025! Today, we're reflecting on the video content that connected with you the most in 2024 🎥 One of the standout pieces of content this year was a video from our Tangible Tips series on feedback - a topic that sparked conversation and action across our network. 💡 The big insight? Feedback, when delivered without empathy, often feels like criticism. But with the right approach - empathetic, specific, and constructive - it becomes a tool for growth. In the video, I introduced the EBI (Even Better If) approach to help leaders give feedback that builds people up rather than tearing them down: “Sarah, you did an amazing job leading today’s meeting! It would have been even better if you shared more data upfront to support your approach.” See the difference? No harsh criticism - just genuine, actionable input. The response to this video reminded us how critical a healthy feedback culture is to team performance and workplace wellbeing. When done well, feedback fosters growth, trust, and better results - exactly what we mean when we talk about Making Work More Human. As we look ahead to 2025, let’s commit to creating environments where feedback helps people thrive. What feedback approaches have worked best in your teams? We can’t wait to share more Tangible Tips with you in the new year! 🚀 #FeedbackCulture #Leadership #GrowthMindset #TeamPerformance #TangibleTips #MakingWorkMoreHuman

We're reflecting on 2024 and what resonated most with you, and Jay's top-performing post this year was all about small teams and why they win. 🏆 💡 The key insight? As team size grows, so does communication complexity. What starts as a few simple connections quickly turns into a tangled web of communication lines. By keeping teams small, leaders can ensure clear communication, faster decision-making, and greater agility. As shared earlier this year: • 2 members = 1 communication line • 4 members = 6 lines • 10 members = 45 lines to manage! It’s no wonder Jeff Bezos’ famous “two-pizza rule” resonates so much - if your team can’t be fed by two pizzas, it’s probably too big. 🍕 💡Key tips for leaders: 1. Keep teams small and agile (6-8 people max). 2. Define clear roles to minimise overlap. 3. Encourage ownership and autonomy. 4. Scale thoughtfully - create more small teams instead of expanding existing ones. The lesson is simple: Small teams win because communication stays simple. As we reflect on the year, this insight sparked meaningful conversations with our network - and it’s a reminder that sometimes, less really is more. What’s your experience with team size? Is two pizzas enough to feed your teams? We’re looking forward to sharing more insights and strategies with you in 2025! 🚀 #TeamEffectiveness #Leadership #SmallTeams #Communication #MakingWorkMoreHuman

Creativity thrives on confidence, but what happens when a team member begins to doubt their abilities? As a leader, you can help reignite their passion and unlock their potential by encouraging exploration and providing meaningful support. Here are four ways to help your team rediscover their creative spark: 🎓 Encourage Learning – Suggest they take a course in a different creative field. Exploring new areas can inspire fresh perspectives and expand their skill set. 🌿 Take Creative Breaks – Encourage them to step away and engage in activities outside their norm, like visiting art galleries, attending cultural events, or simply spending time in nature. Sometimes inspiration strikes when we least expect it. 🤝 Collaborate with Others – Facilitate opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. New ideas often emerge when diverse perspectives come together. 🎯 Try Creative Challenges – Introduce fun, low-pressure challenges unrelated to daily work. These can help them think outside the box and rediscover the joy of creating. At Making Shift Happen, we’re passionate about helping teams unlock their full creative potential. Whether it’s through workshops, mentoring, or leadership development, our mission is to keep creativity alive and thriving. Because every team deserves the tools and confidence to innovate. How do you support your team’s creativity? Share your thoughts in the comments! #CreativityInLeadership #TeamDevelopment #UnlockPotential #MakingWorkMoreHuman #MakingShiftHappen

Struggling to inspire a culture of ownership and responsibility in your team? Empowerment is about more than just motivation—it’s about providing the tools, trust, and confidence your team needs to thrive. At Making Shift Happen, we use the 7Cs of Empowerment to guide teams towards true ownership: 1️⃣ Courage to Let Go – Trust your team to own and deliver their tasks. Letting go is the first step. 2️⃣ Contract – Be clear on what success looks like. Alignment on goals is key to accountability. 3️⃣ Confidence – Help build their belief in themselves. Without it, ownership falters. 4️⃣ Capabilities – Ask what resources or training they need to succeed. Provide practical support. 5️⃣ Check-ins – Stay connected with regular check-ins, but resist the urge to take over. Use coaching to guide instead of solving for them. 6️⃣ Coaching – Ask targeted questions to help them find their own solutions to challenges. 7️⃣ Celebrate – Recognise both individual and team successes. Celebrating wins reinforces ownership and accountability. Empowerment is a partnership between leaders and teams. When you provide clarity, support, and encouragement, you’re building a culture where responsibility and initiative can flourish. As we approach the end of the year, what steps can you take to empower your team for success in 2024? Let’s discuss in the comments! #Leadership #TeamEmpowerment #CoachingLeadership #MakingWorkMoreHuman #MakingShiftHappen
