Dr. Cormac Farrelly of University College Dublin spin-out LaNua Medical, was presented with the Big Idea’s Award by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke at Enterprise Ireland’s Start-Up Day 2024 in Dublin Castle. As part of the Big Ideas award, LaNua Medical, which is developing solutions for problems in embolization, will now represent Ireland at the Pegasus Start-Up World Cup in San Francisco later in the year. Cristina Purtill of Plio Surgical received the Big Ideas runner-up award for the company’s magnetic anastomosis device for gastrointestinal surgery and will also travel to San Francisco to attend the Start-Up World Cup. What a great day it was at the global investor forum with Daan Hittema! Hearing inspiring pitches from 29 (!!) startups in one afternoon certainly means my brain is exploding but how exciting to see how better futures are being built just like we love doing at IDE Group!
