We recently attended an incredible event at Bank of America's Dublin headquarters celebrating the end of the Future Prospects programme. 🎓 Future Prospects saw ten women facing intersectional disadvantage take part in a six-week internship programme at Bank of America. 🤝 Future Prospects wrapped up with presentations from all participants, who bravely pitched their fundraising and volunteer drive ideas to the organisation. Congratulations to everyone who took part! 👏 The winning team pitched a multicultural fashion show, with inspirational insights and plenty of learnings which will be taken back to the business. Two participants have since been offered positions in Bank of America, with plans to expand the Future Prospects programme even further in the coming months and years. 👍 All participants on the programme were recruited through past and present awardee organisations on our Mná na hÉireann funds, in partnership with Bank of America and the Department of Rural and Community Development. These fantastic not-for-profits include An Cosán , EQUAL Ireland, Jobcare and the Irish Refugee Council. #equality #diversityandinclusion #equalopportunities #socialinnovation

Today, 25th November, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, also known as Orange Day. At Rethink Ireland, we’re working to build a more just, equal and sustainable Ireland. For us, that includes ensuring women and girls can live free from fear of violence and we are proud to support organisations that work toward this goal. SAOL Project is a community project dedicated to improving the lives of women affected by addiction and poverty. Through their programmes they empower women to embrace their identity, define their future and create positive change in the world. 🌱 SAOL estimates that 90% of women who attend their services have experienced domestic abuse and violence at some point in their lives. It can be difficult for people who use alcohol or drugs to access domestic violence services. Some of the women even believe they deserve the violence or abuse they experience. To address this need, SAOL created the DAVINA Project (Domestic Abuse Violence Is Never Acceptable). This initiative bridges the gap so that women can access support earlier, empower them to seek help when they need it and explore the link between addiction and domestic abuse. DAVINA brings together a group of women to support each other and shape the direction of the project. 🤝 The DAVINA Project was an awardee of the Equality Fund, created by Rethink Ireland in partnership with the Peter Kinney and Lisa Sandquist Foundation and the Government of Ireland. With the support they received through this three-year fund, the DAVINA Project was able to develop and expand their programme, impacting the lives of 130 women! 🌟 #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #SocialInnovation #Equality Dr. Karen Galligan Deirdre Mortell Rachel Fayne

Our CEO Deirdre Mortell was recently on the panel of our awardee Generation Ireland’s event ‘Closing The Skills Gap and Breaking Barriers to Employment: The Case for Skills Bootcamps.’ During the panel discussion, Deirdre spoke about the need for a shift in how we define economic success - pointing to employability and the amazing work of Generation Ireland, how that can help us towards that bigger vision for Ireland! Articulating our bold ambition for a better Ireland, Deirdre said: “We at Rethink Ireland would love to see an Ireland where we measure our economy’s success based on the equality we achieve and the physical and mental health of our people and our environment. That’s how we all need to be thinking, and employability contributes to all of those things” The event itself was significant for Generation Ireland as they unveiled their first social impact report documenting their huge success in breaking down the barriers that some communities face to entering the workforce. Generation Ireland provided job-specific skills bootcamps to 600 participants, 33% of whom were long-term unemployed, 13% had a disability and 50% were from a low socioeconomic background. The skills bootcamps offered them the chance of life-changing careers in the technology and green energy sectors. Over 70% of bootcamp graduates are in employment after 6 months and 80% of Generation Ireland graduates retain their jobs one year on. We are proud to support Generation Ireland on their journey to achieving this success! Their work in breaking barriers to education and employment, especially in the IT and green sector, perfectly aligns with our vision to achieve an Ireland that is more just, equal and sustainable. Generation Ireland are one of four awardee organisations on our €763,000 two-year Urban Uplift fund, supported by JPMorganChase with match funding by Department of Rural and Community Development. The fund supports organisations working with 18-30 year olds towards employment and/or employability in Dublin’s most disadvantaged areas, promoting equity of opportunity and access to employment in the technology and environment sectors. #SocialInnovation #EmploymentForAll #YouthEmpowerment #InclusiveGrowth #SystemsChange
