Next stop in our Moving West journey is #Sligo. 📍 Gordon Fortier and his partner Ivana Hanjs moved from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and Croatia respectively to Sligo Town. Gordon moved for a great job opportunity at SLEATER SOLUTIONS based in Collooney. For them, the best thing about living in Sligo is its proximity to nature and its stunning surroundings - Benbulben, walks on the Streedagh beach and Strandhill beach and hiking up the Knocknarea mountain. Karen Kearney along with her son Tristan moved to Sligo to start her own business Soak Bath Salts but also to help Tristan who has additional needs. He was able to access surfing which helped him greatly with his stress and anxiety. Karen stresses that moving west has hugely improved her welfare and life. Originally from Sligo, Brendan Doddy is a returnee west. He moved to the Netherlands after completing college in Sligo, after one and a half years he moved back to Ireland with Intel in Leixlip, Kildare and finally moved back home to Sligo finding a career at Abbott | Diagnostics No stranger to TG4 audiences, sports broadcaster Micheál Ó Domhnaill moved to the area from Waterford some 20 years ago. Having relocated to Sligo with his family, he saw that there was a gap in the market for high quality corporate video. Since then, the business has grown to offer broadcast material regularly screened on RTÉ and TG4. Gearoid Conway and Elizabeth Farrell moved from Dublin to Sligo in the summer of 2020. Elizabeth had fond memories of going to the beach in Strandhill as a child. She mentioned this in passing to Gearoid one day and the next she knew they were living in an Air BnB in Drumcliffe. Gearoid works remotely for an Australian company, basing his office at The Building Block, one of many co-working hubs based in the west. #MovingWest Tuesdays 7:30pm TG4 Sligo County Council Dundara Television & Media

  • There are many benefits of automation in the food industry. These include: 💲𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭: Efficiency comes from automation, and efficiency leads to cost savings. Automation allows facilities to carry out activities in a more productive way, increasing speed and throughput, which can reduce overall production costs while increasing output. ⌚𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝: In the long run, more rapid production can lead to greater economic benefits as it improves deadline adherence, closer adherence to customer requirements, and overall greater customer satisfaction. Automation can speed up processes while allowing employees to perform high-value jobs that automated machines cannot, therefore maximising your return on investment. ✅𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲: Food manufacturing poses numerous risks to workers, such as exposure to dangerous equipment (for example, cutting and slicing equipment) and concerns about safe food handling practices (for both end users and staff). 🏋♂️𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Automation has historically been viewed as too challenging to be worthwhile in the food sector however, in the current food manufacturing setting, automation has made facility continuity and safety possible. With the full benefits of automation being recognised, it is in a position to keep developing and improving. We offer automated solutions across a variety of sectors, including food & beverage. • The SLEATER SOLUTIONS brand and logo is based on two key concepts: 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 - We were established at the foot of Knocknarea in Co. Sligo, in the North West of Ireland. Our logo represents the summit of this iconic location, crowned by the great cairn of Queen Maeve, with the accompanying trails tailing off at it's highest point. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 - Our name, and our logo, are very much interwoven. As well as representing our roots, our logo also represents our purpose. Providing solutions and unlocking impasses to save our clients expenditure (both capital and operational) is what we do! Our logo serves as a representation of this 'unlocking' purpose, capturing the bow and shoulder elements of a key. #OurBrand #AutomationEngineering #Sligo #LocalBusiness

  • This Sunday, 23rd of June, is International Women in Engineering Day. This day not only celebrates achievements, it also encourages discussion on how to create a future that is more inclusive. We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and be grateful for our colleague, Alison Doyle, and the amazing work she does as a student Software Developer at SLEATER SOLUTIONS. As a young child, Alison loved CoderDojo. During her transition year, she came to us for work experience and worked on several software projects. Both of which encouraged her to pursue software development as her college education. During the school year, Alison works part-time as a student software developer; in the summer, she joins us full-time. Whether you are a seasoned professional, or are just getting started on your engineering journey, your contributions are invaluable. Keep pushing limits and inspiring us all! #IWED24 #ESG #EmployeeAppreciation #WomenInEngineering
