🌿 A Celebration of Spanish Olive Oil and Gastronomy 🌿 This past Thursday, October 10th, we had the pleasure of hosting a unique Olive Oil Workshop for Trade and Media at the beautiful Airfield Estate Demo Kitchen in Dublin. The event, led by renowned Spanish food expert Blanca Valencia, was a culinary journey through Spain's finest extra virgin olive oils and vinegars. Blanca Valencia guided us through the rich flavors of Spain’s iconic olive varieties—Picual, Arbequina, and Hojiblanca—and introduced us to the art of pairing these oils with fresh ingredients. From savory gildas made with el capricho anchovies to delicious air dry beef and sobrasada Iberica from verafoods and lemon curd, olive oil chocolate cake, each recipe was a true testament to the versatility of olive oil in both cooking and baking. 🍋🍰🐟 We were also thrilled to feature Mojama from the brand UNION SALAZONERA ISLEÑA S.A., a delicacy that was perfectly showcased in the tasting, adding a rich, authentic touch of Spain’s coastal traditions. Special thanks to Cinta Rambado from La Choquera Bistro for her participation, bringing an extra layer of expertise and flavor to the event! Paired with wines from Spain’s top D.O.s, the entire experience was nothing short of delightful. 🌍🔋 A new study by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) models the impact of delays in renewable energy projects caused by the Irish planning process. ♻In 2023, Ireland set a record high for renewable energy use, with 23.38 TWh helping to avoid 7.4 MtCO2. 2024 is poised to set a new benchmark, with new projects coming online and an additional 1.3 GW of renewable capacity secured in the RESS-4 auction. Ireland is well on its way to achieving the government’s ambitious target of 80% renewable electricity by 2030, however, the biggest hurdle remains the lengthy and complex authorization process. 📈 This study shows that delays can lead to a 10% increase in wholesale electricity prices and a 4% rise in CO2 emissions, and recommends more frequent application windows for grid connections, as well as better coordination between regulatory bodies. Check out the full study here: http://bit.ly/4eM1d88 💡

🍀 Ireland will establish new labelling on alcoholic beverages⚠️ In 2026, Ireland will become the first country in the European Union to introduce labeling on alcoholic beverages to warn of the link between alcohol consumption and cancer. The World Health Organization, understands that this step could reduce alcohol consumption and may have a ripple effect, encouraging other countries to follow suit. 🍷 From the economic and commercial office, we will follow closely this new regulation to allow exporters to adapt accordingly.
