  • We know that setting up your stereotaxic frame can sometimes feel like juggling multiple components—especially when it comes to heating pads! That's why we’ve designed all of our stereotaxic frames to come with a 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁-𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿-𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲! This means you won’t have to deal with clunky, separate heating pads, creating a cleaner, more efficient workspace. The heating pad is neatly concealed within the frame, offering several advantages: ➡️ it 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 and ➡️ 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 during surgery, by eliminating any extra clutter or awkward placement. This has led to growing interest in animal models to explore the pathological role of extra-nigral synucleinopathy and its connection to both motor and non-motor PD symptoms. In this study, researchers from Aarhus University present a model using stereotaxic delivery of pre-formed fibrillar (PFF) aSyn to the GRN in transgenic M83 mice expressing mutant human Ala53Thr aSyn. The results show that PFF aSyn aggregates in the GRN and other subcortical motor nuclei, leading to progressive motor deficits, including decreased home cage activity, postural instability, and impaired coordination. The accumulation of aSyn pathology in the brainstem and lumbar spinal cord motor neurons marks the onset of a moribund state and reduced survival.
