ATU MakerSpace and Hedgehog Financial Wellness join forces Partnership promotes both STEM and Financial Wellness among students Atlantic Technological University’s pioneering outreach initiative promoting the STEM subjects in secondary schools, ATU MakerSpace, is happy to announce a new partnership with HedgeHog Financial Wellness. As part of the ATU MakerSpace outreach programme, which is supported by the Higher Education 4.0 Project, HedgeHog will run financial wellness workshops for young adults to empower students with the tools to thrive in a chaotic world. At HedgeHog, they believe that success in education and life starts with mastering the essential skills that go beyond the classroom, an ethos shared by ATU MakerSpace. Welcoming the partnership, Higher Education 4.0 Innovation Projects Manager Noel Mulkeen, who oversees the ATU MakerSpace initiative, says: “ATU MakerSpace’s hands-on, interactive workshops are designed to give students the tools they need to build a strong foundation for their educational and personal journeys and our partner HedgeHog can now extend our suite of workshops to include financial wellness.” “Hedgehog Financial Wellness helps kickstart a young person’s financial wellness journey and Higher Education 4.0 is delighted to work with ATU MakerSpace to bring this to students.” Speaking on behalf of Hedgehog, Co-Founder Caitlin Hafer says they are thrilled to be working with ATU MakerSpace and to have their support in bringing these important life skills to more students. “By making financial wellness interesting, tangible, and dare we say even fun we’re teaching students not only the nuts and bolts of financial wellness, but the critical thinking skills to make informed decisions that support their unique journeys,” she says. “This partnership with ATU MakerSpace highlights the importance of linking together classroom skills and real-world applications to set students on strong foundation for their future.” For more information on ATU MakerSpace, go to https://atumakerspace.ie or for more on Hedgehog Financial Wellness, visit their website, www.hedgehogdigi.com. 🔥 I've had a rare glimpse into the entrepreneurial consciousness of Irelands female tech innovators through assessing over 50 applications for this important programme. 🌟 The values, focus & creative problem solving initiative tackling some of societies biggest challenges from mental health, menopause, financial wellbeing, environmental issues harnessing emerging tech including #ai & #blockchain is exemplary on a local & global scale & just what Irish & international investors are seeking to support. 💸 💫 The talent, initiative & willingness is here, NOW. So there are NO excuses for 'lack' of female founder startups to invest in in Ireland. This programme highlights this as a FACT. 💞 We have a lot to be proud of in terms of the values that Irelands women hold & the action they are willing to take to make a change for society & our environment. Powerful action. 💥 And it starts here with the enormous initiative from TechFoundHer InterTradeIreland & the entire collective involved. Well done absolutely everyone who applied, assessed & in particular created this programme. The first of many I hope. ⭐👏💪🔥 Máirín Murray Alison McMurtrie Sinead Quealy Furkan Karayel Jenny Ervine Elaine Patterson Naseem Sayani (she/her) ⚡Anne Ravanona Leyla F Karaha Professor Joyce O'Connor BlockW Association for Women in Cryptocurrency Women in Immersive Technologies Europe IIF - Impact Innovation Foundation, Inc GatherVerse Katarina M.V. Congratulations Olivia Humphreys this is incredible!! Athena has been named the Global Medical Winner in the James Dyson Awards – the first Irish win in the award's history! Such an inspiration to us all!! This is what an innovator looks like! “Olivia Humphries - A 24 year old University of Limerick graduate has been announced as the winner of a major international design award for a hair-loss prevention device for chemotherapy patients. Olivia Humphreys (24) from Pallasgreen, Co Limerick is this year’s global winner of the 2024 James Dyson Award under the Medical Devices category, the first Irish winner of the global competition since it began in 2006. Olivia, who recently graduated with a degree in Product Design and Technology from UL’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, developed the device, Athena, as part of her final year project. The prize comes with an award of €38,000 from the James Dyson Foundation to help fund further research and development of her invention. The UL graduate had witnessed how upsetting it is for patients who face losing their hair during chemotherapy when her mother, Vicky, was sadly affected by cancer in 2019. Spending time with her mother during her treatment inspired Olivia to reimagine the way scalp-cooling can be done.” https://lnkd.in/eQCKnfEP FYI Naseem Sayani (she/her) Catherine Gray Lata Setty
