Last week our joint venture partnership Energia Group / Vårgrønn proudly sponsored a successful Strategic Offshore Wind Event at the Port of Waterford, hosted by Waterford Chamber. Our high-profile line up of speakers and guests converged in what was the first formal event in the South East to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing offshore wind development in the region. Peter Baillie, Managing Director at Energia Renewables, addressed the event highlighting the significant role offshore wind can play in the future economic success of Waterford and the South East. He also discussed the extensive amount of survey and preparatory work our joint venture team have completed ahead of the Tonn Nua ORESS auction this year, as well as the need for the state’s plan-lead approach to outline a credible pipeline of future projects to maintain investor interest and grow confidence in this nascent sector in Ireland. We also heard from Stephen Bull, CEO of Vårgrønn who spoke to the abundance of international expertise in the company and international best practice examples Ireland can apply to its own domestic offshore market.
