Delighted to see Prof Paula Bourke is among the top 1% of the world's most cited academics according to the latest Highly Cited Researchers report, compiled by Clarivate Analytics. To be named as a ‘Highly Cited Researcher’ it must be demonstrated that an individual’s work has disproportionately extended the frontiers of knowledge and contributed to making the world healthier, more sustainable and drive societal impact. Named for a fifth time in the Highly Cited Researchers annual listings, Conway Fellow and Head of the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, Professor Paula Bourke has been ranked among the top 1% of the most cited researchers globally since 2018. Working largely in the areas of sustainable food systems and novel antimicrobial technologies, her research crosses over to bio-medically relevant issues including infection prevention and cold plasma bioscience. Her work at the intersection of food and health domains has underpinned her highly cited researcher designation with the Cross-Field recognition. A member of the UCD Institute of Food and Health, Professor Bourke collaborates widely internationally and with industry, and her work has been supported by SFI, the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, the Irish Research Council, the Royal Irish Academy as well as Enterprise Ireland and other awards. #scienceweek2024 - #rengeneration Children's lunch boxes have changed over the years - in a positive way. Gone are processed cheese slices and ham in between limp white bread alongside high sugar bars and drinks. Now we are creating healthier lunch meals with less meat and more fruit and vegetables better for them and and their planet. The importance of our children's diet is discussed in Associate Professor Breige McNulty's Early Years Health study which you can find under our research spotlights on our website here: https://shorturl.at/f4azD If you want some ideas about healthy lunch boxes, watch our previous Public Lecture on the topic by Dr Celine Murrin here:
