Export credit transactions in Africa are rebounding, with $23 billion in new medium and long-term business in 2023, up from $14 billion in 2021 and $12 billion in 2022. This growth in syndicated loans reflects renewed confidence from global financial institutions and export credit agencies. However, the effects of recent #OECD Arrangement updates that extend repayment terms but raise tenor costs are yet to be fully understood, particularly regarding competition with non-OECD export creditors. This afternoon at #GTRAfrica, trade finance experts considered emerging project transaction and debt risk factors as well as the expanding role of local and regional African banks in ECA projects, and priorities for ensuring local firms and EPCs achieve greater representation.
