The construction industry is one of the most destructive, responsible for 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Business as usual (BAU) exacerbates these issues, especially during crises—whether it's rebuilding after a conflict or addressing the urgent housing demands in urban areas.
We believe the root problem is not a lack of resources but a lack of imagination and inspiration. This is where the [Program Name] accelerator comes in. Our mission is to foster and spread innovative ideas that prove change is not only possible but already within our reach.
The Accelerator "Under Construction" is a project of Liebling Haus LAB, which is carried out in cooperation with Desertech Climate Innovation Center, Reality Proptech and the Bundesstiftung Bauakademie (Federal Bauakademie Foundation) and the Founder Institute.
Many thanks to the support of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, the Tel Aviv Yafo Foundation and the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
By uniting the best of German and Israeli ConTech, PropTech, and ClimateTech innovations, we aim to develop impactful pilot projects that address these challenges head-on.

A few months ago, at the height of the war, an idea was born to support the recovery efforts of communities in the Western Negev by integrating innovation and technology into construction and infrastructure.
This initiative, driven by the strategic collaboration between the German government and Israeli society, required a wide range of partners to dream and act together to bring pilots to life, connecting communities with entrepreneurs.

🌍 Embracing Circularity: Insights from Industry Experts
We had the privilege of diving deep into upcoming laws and regulations with an inspiring panel featuring Karel J. Golta from Indeed and Dominik Campanella from Concular. Their discussion on circularity challenged conventional ideas of recycling, reminding us that much of it still involves simply burning or burying materials. Instead, they urged startups to rethink their strategies by “thinking from the end”—designing business models that prioritize sustainability from the outset.
Karel highlighted the importance of maximizing the use of existing resources in as many loops as possible, a perspective that not only drives sustainability but also unlocks fresh business opportunities. This is particularly true in the building sector, where high-value materials often end up as costly waste.
We explored the concept of the "value hill," where materials reach their peak value during refinement but lose it quickly thereafter. This decline presents significant opportunities for innovative business models and services—an exciting prospect for startups aiming to lead in the circular economy.
A big thank you to our speakers for broadening our perspective and inspiring action! 🌱
What’s your take on integrating circularity into business models?

Insight into our Fourth Session on ‘Fundings and Investments’ 💡
Yesterday, we had the great honour of listening to a lecture by Talia Rafaeli, General Partner at KOMPAS VC. Kompas is an early-stage venture capital fund investing in leading resilience and decarbonization solutions across sectors like manufacturing, energy, and the built environment. Talia shared valuable insights into the latest finance trends and potential construction investments between Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin and Tel-Aviv. When asked what makes a good entrepreneur, she said, “Dreamers, who know what they know and who know what they don’t know.”
We were also fortunate to host Dr. Andreas M. Rickert, whose impressive background spans roles such as director at the Bertelsmann Foundation and senior governance specialist at the World Bank. He began his career at McKinsey & Company and has a rich academic background in biology. As the founder of PHINEO gAG, Andreas enriched our session with his deep knowledge and perspective on impact investing.
A hands-on workshop led by Kai Malkwitz Mailkwitz showed participants how to create a business model and value proposition using the Canvas programme.
Finally, Chen Rosen, Managing Partner - VP Biz Dev & Innovation at REALITY GROUP Proptech, and Florian Fischer, Founding Partner at STYX, led an exciting roundtable discussion on private impact investment and provided tips for entrepreneurs on planning a pilot in the field of construction and urban planning that would take them to the next level.
Many thanks to all the great thinkers, visionaries, and experts who continue to enrich our programme!

Three minutes into my Zoom lecture for the Under Construction (what a catchy name) startups, an alarm started in Tel Aviv. While rushing to the protected area, we had a live opportunity to demonstrate to our friends from Germany the challenges we face here, aside from climate change. Anyway, that didn’t stop Simone Rosenberg and me from pouring tons of crucial information on them about ESG, sustainability regulation, and how they connect to investors DD and the capital market demands.
The 'Under Construction' Accelerator, co-founded by Sharon Golan from the Liebling Hous- White City Center and my talented friend Galit Shiff, unites German and Israeli startups from ConstructionTech, PropTech, and ClimateTech to develop innovative yet sustainable pilot projects in the building sector for projects in the Western Negev and north Germany.
It was fun, thank you for inviting me :)
