About us
ACT is a non-profit venture philanthropy platform that is built upon the premise that an entrepreneurial mindset, technology & innovation and collective action have the power to create meaningful social impact at scale. We are driven by a bias for action to catalyse social change through collaboration across the board – startup founders, VCs, industry experts, NGOs, government stakeholders as well as the public at large. Our grants are given as seed capital to incubate and accelerate innovations that have demonstrated ability to address some of India’s most complex social needs. In addition to providing funding, we work with our grantees on their strategy as well as operations and help them harness the strength of our collective – through best-in-class industry mentorship that can enable them to build sustainable organisations.

Sanjeev Thakur, an apple farmer from Himachal Pradesh, has transformed his farming practices with SWAR, achieving healthier soil, reduced water usage, and less weeding. This innovative approach has also helped him and many other farmers in Bharat reduce reliance on costly soluble nutrients, fostering more productive and sustainable agriculture. Centre for Environment Concern's System of Water for Agricultural Rejuvenation (SWAR) is a sub-soil water diffuser that connects to existing drip irrigation systems to deliver moisture in a calibrated manner directly to the root zone, where it is most needed. By ensuring optimal absorption and eliminating evaporation losses, SWAR saves water and improves soil fertility. Using overhead tanks, clay pots, and micro-tubes, the system adapts to soil type and crop needs, making it a game-changer for water-scarce regions. 🪴 This farmer-driven innovation is a testament to how technology and community collaboration can create meaningful climate impact. Sometimes, saying 𝙉𝙊 is the boldest step towards living an empowered life. Delhi just witnessed a powerful conversation on 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑵𝑶, breaking free from the '𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆' trap that many women are conditioned to fall into. Building on insights from our Mumbai event, the second session of Stree-Leads x leap.club was a deep dive into boundaries, balance, and bravery. 🙌 Here’s what our incredible panellists shared: Megha Chawla, Senior Partner at Bain & Company, reminded us that saying no doesn’t close doors; it can lead to alternate, better ideas. Radhika Ghai, Founder & CEO, kindlife.in, shed light on navigating fundraising challenges, overcoming imposter syndrome, and the transformative power of recognising your own worth. Aarti Gupta, Partner at Anikarth Ventures, emphasised the importance of balancing business, family, and boundaries, highlighting how even the toughest NOs, especially to loved ones, are a sign of self-respect. Aakanksha Gulati, CEO, ACT, discussed how women often hold back in negotiations and stressed the need to redefine self-worth to break free. Naghma Mulla , CEO, EdelGive Foundation, explained how the word 'no' can feel heavy but is part of a bigger negotiation for yourself and your values. These women leaders redefined what it means to take the leap of saying NO while continuing to lead with purpose. We laughed, we reflected, and we left inspired. Can’t wait to continue this journey in Bangalore in February! ✨ #StreeLeads #WomenInPowerEmpower
