🏃♀️"𝐇𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐲𝐚𝐛" 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 – 𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 🏃♂️ We had the privilege of participating in the "Ham Honge Kamyab" Marathon, held to mark Human Rights Day and raise awareness about women's rights, safety, and dignity. Over 1700 participants joined this inspiring event, which aimed to empower women and fight against gender-based violence. As sponsors, ASA proudly supported the cause by providing 300 T-shirts and water to the runners. The marathon, which started at New Ravindra Bhawan and ended at Boat Club, featured a powerful speech, pledge, and a rendition of Hum Honge Kamyab. The Director General of Police emphasized the importance of initiating change starting at home, encouraging a shift in societal norms. The Additional Director General of Police highlighted the significance of the 16-day campaign to promote gender equality and end violence against women, driving attention to the importance of collective action for lasting change. The Inspector General of Police acknowledged the efforts of participants and sponsors, including ASA, in making the event a success. The Commissioner of Women and Child Development and The State Lead & Policy Specialist from UN Women played a key role in organizing the campaign and the event, overseeing safety measures, ensuring that the campaign reached its full potential and enhancing awareness about gender-based violence and women's rights. Together, we are working towards a society that values respect, equality, and safety for all. 🌾 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐡! Smt. Shushila Khalkho, from Beljora village in Surguja district, has transformed her family’s fortunes through innovative farming practices. With just 2 acres of land, she achieved an impressive income of over Rs. 3.36 lakh by selling a quintal of bitter gourd seeds, 150 quintals of cucumber, and 2.5 quintals of peas, all thanks to shallow bore irrigation and modern agricultural techniques. Previously, Shushila relied on rain-fed farming, earning a modest Rs. 55,000-60,000 from 28 quintals of paddy while growing vegetables for household consumption. However, her participation in an ASA meeting about the AHT project in her area proved to be a game-changer. After installing a shallow bore, she was able to significantly increase her vegetable seed production which led to a substantial rise in her income. Today, Shushila not only supports her family but also ensures that her six children receive quality education. Looking ahead, she plans to expand her seed production operations, exemplifying how dedication, innovation, and access to the right resources can pave the way for sustainable prosperity. 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐬: 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 “𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞” 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 We are inviting proposals from organizations to conduct a comprehensive mid-term assessment of the “Regenerative Production Landscape Collaborative” project in Western Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, India. Initiated in May 2022 this project covers 700 villages supporting 75,000 smallholder families in building resilient farming systems. The project is based on Regenerative Production Landscape Development model to foster agricultural ecosystems which conserve and enhance natural resources, and build community resilience whilst enabling businesses to source responsibly. The assessment will focus on key impact areas such as soil health restoration, efficient water management, biodiversity conservation, income improvements for smallholders, and gender equity.
