☀️ The Best Friends I Have Had in Life Were My Classmates at Columbia and My Great Professors. These were the words of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a towering figure in Indian history and a testament to the transformative power of education. Dr. Ambedkar pursued economics at Columbia University and the London School of Economics, earning doctorates in 1927 and 1923, respectively. In the 1920s, he was among a handful of Indian students to achieve such milestones at these prestigious institutions. But his time abroad was about more than academic brilliance. It was a journey of broadening horizons. At Columbia, he immersed himself in ideas of equality, justice, and democracy, studying under progressive thinkers who shaped his worldview. In London, he honed his expertise in economics and law, understanding how governance and institutions could reshape societies. These experiences profoundly influenced his vision for India. Dr. Ambedkar returned with not only academic accolades but also renewed confidence, a global perspective, and the determination to drive systemic change. His education empowered him to think beyond India’s immediate struggles and envision a nation founded on equality, liberty, and justice. This global vision culminated in the Indian Constitution—a document that continues to uphold the rights and dignity of millions. Dr. Ambedkar’s life reminds us that education isn’t just about earning degrees. It’s about expanding your vision and equipping yourself to make meaningful contributions to society. At Alum-n-i, we are inspired by this legacy. We strive to empower students to dream big, explore new possibilities, and take bold steps toward their aspirations. The world is vast, and the opportunities are limitless when you choose to broaden your horizons. #EducationMatters #DrAmbedkar #StudyAbroad #BroadeningHorizons #AlumniStories Image source: https://lnkd.in/gBNMbfky
