About us

Bal Raksha Bharat is India’s leading independent child rights NGO. As of 2024, it works in 16 Indian states and 3 UTs and has changed the lives of more than 16 million Indian children since 2008. Our projects are implemented in the remotest corners of India and urban areas to provide quality education and healthcare, protection from harm and abuse and life-saving aid during emergencies to children. A major aspect of Bal Raksha Bharat's work is to engage with and empower the most marginalised communities of India. We take children’s voice to the platforms where it matters the most. We engage with the Government to drive policy change in the best interest of children. Globally, Bal Raksha Bharat is present in more than 80 countries and works to improve the situation of children living there.   • Empowering Futures Through STEAM & Safe Water! Bal Raksha Bharat, in partnership with H&M, proudly launched STEAM Labs and safe drinking water facilities in Five government run schools across Bengaluru. This Diversity & Inclusion initiative champions experiential learning of STEAM concepts, equipping students with tools to innovate and thrive. The STEAM labs will be a permanent space for the 1,400+ young learners, making it a long-term project where students can utilize the labs for years to come. Together, we’re creating brighter futures by combining education, sustainability and collaboration, impacting young minds.   • Najiya’s Journey: From Struggles to School At just 15, Najiya’s life took a challenging turn. Born in a small village in Bihar, her family’s financial struggles forced her to move to Delhi to live with her aunt, Rahmati Khatoon. Rahmati’s Resilience A survivor of domestic abuse, Rahmati, a tailor by trade, vowed to provide Najiya with the education she deserved. But enrolling Najiya in school wasn’t easy. A fraudulent agent scammed Rahmati with fake adoption papers, leaving her disheartened when the school rejected the documents. Rahmati sought support from Bal Raksha Bharat’s Multi-Activity Center (MAC) with the guidance of a Child Protection Committee member, got her registered to school with appropriate updated identity proof.   • Project Launch in Vijayawada! As part of the Learning Improvement Program (LIP) in Andhra Pradesh, Bal Raksha Bharat (BRB) has partnered with Samagra Shiksha AP and Honda India Foundation to enhance education for students in grades 6-9. The program, launched on January 9, 2025, aims to improve learning outcomes and foster holistic development. The program got inaugirated at AKTPMC High School, Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada. Sri Ravindra Reddy Garu, ASPD Samagra Shiksha AP, applauded BRB and Honda for their efforts in strengthening quality education. Sri Uma Maheshwar Rao, Deputy Collector, had joined the inauguration. On January 18-19, 2025, the Children’s International Summit on Zero Waste Management in Thiruvananthapuram brought young changemakers to the forefront of tackling waste, pollution, and carbon footprints.   • Bal Raksha Bharat and Cyber Police from Tiruvallur and Pune organized a joint training to strengthen enforcement and ensure a safe online experience for children, while effectively preventing and responding to cyber-crimes. 93 police officers were trained on emerging cyber-crimes in general and especially those targeting children, and on their role in preventing and responding to such offenses. The cyber-safety training module for police officials was developed after a needs assessment and consultation with experts in cyber safety, law, and policing.   • Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony: Model Resilient Village The foundation stone for the Model Resilient Village was laid on 20th Jan 2025 in Sil/Sunani village, Baddi, Solan District, Himachal Pradesh, marking a transformative step towards resilient rural development. The event was graced by Dr. (Mrs) N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary to the Government of India & DG of CSIR, as Chief Guest.
