Linkedin, let us introduce you to biodiversity-friendly coffee! And our partner producers that helped grow it. We launched a coffee called Potter's Wasp in February. PW is a Pulp Sun-Dried Arabica roasted light-medium. We used the month as an excuse to talk about new-age love stories with the examples of our Partner Producers! As we collectively work to fix the strained relationship between coffee and climate, we can’t help but acknowledge the corny parallel running alongside. Thanks to climate change, it’s not easy for young lovers to elope into the forest under circumstances of disagreement between families anymore. Surviving, and finding food is becoming increasingly uncertain in forests that were once safe spaces that guaranteed self-sufficiency. https://lnkd.in/gJkWnpFA #coffee #specialtycoffee #coffeeatwork #arabica #robusta #premiumcoffee #butfirstcoffee

Birds make an important part of any ecosystem and we were curious how birds use coffee farms, especially in the absence of humans. One way to observe bird activity is by listening to them! We set up Audiomoths at certain spots of biodiversity-friendly and some not-so-biodiverse coffee lands in pursuit of this understanding. In the company of Ornithologist Dr Vijay Ramesh, whose research is focused on understanding how the environment shapes the ecology and behaviour of tropical montane birds, we hosted ‘Soundscapes’ to share findings from our documentation effort. The popular way of growing coffee involves removing native shade trees which directly contributes to huge habitat loss for birds. Numerous bird species continue to be significantly impacted by agriculture. This is an attempt to look for more ways to conserve bird diversity in coffee farms. If you can’t tell by our name already, we hold the existence of birds undeniably close to us. This blog is about hosting events at a small roastery and kick-starting our bird monitoring programme. https://lnkd.in/gWFD688p

Greetings, we’re a little late to this LinkedIn party! There isn’t a finer way to introduce ourselves and our work than to share this detailed memoir by our Founder, Arshiya Bose. It includes brick-by-brick what it took to establish our practices inside the bean-to-cup journey. At Black Baza Coffee Co, our purpose is to enable smallholder coffee producers to enjoy secure and stable livelihoods and strengthen coffee farming practices that conserve biodiversity. We invite you, coffee drinkers, to participate in the process! https://lnkd.in/g_Bc4vmj
