Varun Aggarwal, Founder of Change Engine and Luis Miranda, Co-founder Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP) recently wrote an oped in The Economic Times addressing the most prevalent myths about nonprofits—and why non-profits are more essential than ever in driving meaningful change. In a world where startups and businesses are celebrated for solving large-scale problems, nonprofits are often misunderstood. But the truth is, nonprofits are essential actors for social transformation, working where markets fail, governments struggle, and society needs a voice. They tackle issues like social justice, inequity, and long-term innovation for small set of people- spaces profit-driven models often can’t or won’t go. This is an incredible time for nonprofits in India. Governments are increasingly open to partnerships, and the opportunity to drive scalable impact has never been greater.
