I, along with my colleague Rohit Verma, organized & co-chaired a technical workshop titled 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜/𝗠𝗟 (𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗔𝗜), hosted at COMSNETS 2025. The workshop focused on advancements in building robust and efficient systems that support real-world AI and ML solutions 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚. We had excellent keynote talks and a very interesting panel discussion. The first keynote was delivered by Prof. Yogesh Simmhan from IISc, who detailed "𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗟 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀." His talk provided interesting experimental insights on systems optimization. We then had another brilliant keynote talk by Dr. Ranjita Bhagwan from Google on "𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸." Her talk covered various challenges and research directions necessary for building reliable and scalable networks for users. We concluded the workshop with a panel discussion on "𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗜/𝗠𝗟 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀," which was moderated by Dr. Prasant Misra from TCS Research. Panelists include: Dr. Amod Anandkumar (Harman), Vaanathi Sundaresan (IISc), Amit Baxi (Intel), Bindu Sunil (Aptiv). The panel covered various aspects of the challenges of building systems capable of handling the computational and data-intensive requirements of modern AI, while ensuring efficiency, inclusivity, and adaptability. The esteemed panelists—Saurabh Bagchi from Purdue University, Prasenjit Dey of Emergence AI, Tanuja Ganu from Microsoft Research, Igor Kotenko of SPIIRAS LIMITED, and Supratik Mukhopadhyay from Louisiana State University—shared invaluable insights under the adept moderation of Vinay Kolar from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Day 3 at COMSNETS 2025 continues with the exciting I+ART: Industry-Academia Research Track! The I+ART track brings together top #industry leaders and #academic researchers to discuss these emerging challenges and solutions in #wireless #communication #systems, #robotics, and #digital twins. The day kicked off with an insightful keynote by Dr. Kumar Sivarajan, CTO of Tejas Networks, on "Challenges for 6G Radio Access Networks". #COMSNETS2025 Is Computer Networking Know-How Useful in Other Fields? The core lessons from computer networks could add significant value in solving critical problems in many disciplines and areas of modern society, including transportation (ground, air, and water); utilities (electricity, water, and gas); biology and epidemiology; economics; social; political science; and more. Prof. Anurag Kumar (Indian Institute of Science (IISc)); Dr. Venkatesh Sarangan (Tata Consultancy Services - Research); Dr. Kalapriya Kannan (Intuit India); Prof. Nitin Nagaraj (National Institute of Advanced Studies) shared their viewpoints on many of these aspects, including some key questions on: * Significance of networks: Why are networks interesting, and what can they reveal? * Cross-disciplinary applicability: Which computer networking concepts are applicable in other domains, and to what extent? * Case studies: What are real-world examples of applying networking principles in other fields, and what were the outcomes? * Tool customization: How could networking tools or methodologies be adapted to tackle the specific challenges faced by other disciplines? * Limitations: What are pitfalls in analyzing complex systems through the lens of networks? * Future and interdisciplinary insights: What is the future of computer networks?
