A special training session led by expert Bogusław ‘Bob’ Marek focused on how tactile graphics and materials can help visually impaired learners connect 3D reality with 2D representations. This crucial skill enhances spatial understanding and bridges the gap between real-world objects and their abstract forms. Through hands-on sessions, teachers, parents and educators explored teaching aids and tactile illustration books, empowering them to create inclusive learning environments. Such initiatives unlock potential and build confidence for learners with visual impairments. Helping People Help Themselves
About us
Concern India Foundation is a registered, non-profit, public charitable trust working towards ‘Helping People Help Themselves’ by making the disadvantaged self-reliant and thereby enabling them to lead a life of dignity. It was set up in 1991 to extend financial and non-financial support to grass root programmes working in the areas of Education, Health and Community Development. Our support through these issues helps us touch the lives of a wider section of beneficiaries such as children, youth, the specially challenged, women and the elderly. We strongly believe that the disadvantaged need opportunities, not charity. We aspire to bring about a positive transformation in the lives of the most vulnerable section of our society. Through our efforts, today we support about 300 grassroots NGOs reaching out to 1,36,000 marginalised people directly through our offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. Right now, farmers in the Vypin Islands, Kerala are fully immersed in the shrimp farming season! This critical phase not only sustains their livelihoods but also enriches the waters with essential nutrients, setting the stage for the next cycle of Pokkali rice cultivation. With the support of DCB Bank Corporate Social Responsibility programme for community stewardship, sustainable livelihoods and water security, Concern India Foundation is working to revive this traditional, symbiotic cycle that connects sustainable shrimp farming with native Pokkali rice cultivation. Together, we are also conducting a survey to ensure that this project brings benefits to every stakeholder, paving the way for sustainable agriculture and thriving communities.

Despite playing a vital role in India's agricultural sector, millions of women farmers remain unrecognized and unsupported. For instance, only 2.6% of women farmers have access to institutional credit (NSSO, 2020-21) and 70% of women farmers lack ownership of land (Agriculture Census, 2020-21). Our Odisha project, supported by DCB Bank. , promoting livelihoods in beekeeping among women farmers, has collaborated with the government department to obtain farmer IDs for 27 beneficiary families, including 18 women, recognizing them as independent farmers. This ID is a basic requirement to receive any support from the Agriculture Department. Armed with this recognition, the 27 families have now received between 1 kg to 3 kgs of mustard seeds each. This milestone not only contributes to women's empowerment but also enhances the beekeeping process. With these seeds, the beneficiaries will continue to maintain their kitchen gardens, ultimately improving the quality and quantity of honey. At Concern India Foundation, we believe in empowering lives and creating opportunities for those in need. Seema and Neelam, single mothers from Wazirabad Village, Gurugram, are shining examples of resilience and determination. Seema, abandoned by her husband a decade ago, works as a domestic worker to support her daughters. Living in a cramped space shared with other families, she earns just enough to cover the basics. Yet, her dreams for her daughters—serving in the army or police—keep her going. Neelam, a mother of four, has faced the struggles of raising her children alone after being left by her alcoholic husband. With limited income, getting all her children into school seemed impossible. Yet, she remains unwavering in her belief that education is the only way to a better future. With the ration support, these mothers no longer have to choose between feeding their families and securing their future. The relief they’ve received has helped them focus on their children’s education and work toward a life filled with hope and dignity. Their strength, combined with the right support, is a powerful reminder that change begins with care. [Concern India Foundation, Stories of Hope, Women, Family, Security, Mothers]

I felt cared for and healthy after a long time, only because of the timely health camp and necessary support I received from the medical team and Concern India team. My breathing issues had been persistent for days, but I avoided attending to it due to financial limitations. The doctors at the health camp did a detailed check-up including my blood pressure, sugar and lung function tests. They swiftly identified by asthma and arranged for a hospital visit, including free transport. I underwent all the necessary tests to understand the degree of my asthma and medicines were prescribed and provided accordingly. I am immensely grateful for the services provided with so much compassion, and all the medicines needed for my rehabilitation. - Kummari Shankaraiah, 68 years, Rudraram village, Telangana

Hunger isn’t just about an empty stomach; it is the struggles of daily survival and the resilience of those fighting against the odds. In Wazirabad, Gurugram many families are living on the edge, trying to make ends meet. Most are single mothers, widows, differently abled individuals, daily wage earners and elderly citizens—each carrying a burden that’s often too heavy to bear alone. This is why distributing ration kits is more than just an act of charity—it’s about restoring dignity and providing hope. By supplying essentials like Moong Dal, Masoor Dal, Soya Chunks, Rice, Daliya, Mustard Oil, Salt, and Biscuits, we’re not just filling plates but ensuring these 100 families have the strength to face tomorrow. The food becomes a lifeline, a reminder that someone cares and that their struggles are seen. Be a part of the change. Share this and support us in providing food security to more families in need. We witnessed something truly extraordinary as 200 young athletes with disabilities from 10 NGOs from Mumbai came together for our annual Sports Meet for Children with Disabilities! The morning air buzzed with excitement, determination and the echo of cheers, as these remarkable individuals proved that sports has the power to inspire and unite us all. Their incredible performances reminded us that success isn’t measured by speed, but by the heart, resilience and spirit that propel us forward. This sports meet is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for breaking barriers, building confidence and celebrating every achievement—no matter how big or small. These young champions embody the belief that no dream is too big when fueled by passion and perseverance.
