Helping People Help Themselves

About us

Concern India Foundation is a registered, non-profit, public charitable trust working towards ‘Helping People Help Themselves’ by making the disadvantaged self-reliant and thereby enabling them to lead a life of dignity. It was set up in 1991 to extend financial and non-financial support to grass root programmes working in the areas of Education, Health and Community Development. Our support through these issues helps us touch the lives of a wider section of beneficiaries such as children, youth, the specially challenged, women and the elderly. We strongly believe that the disadvantaged need opportunities, not charity. We aspire to bring about a positive transformation in the lives of the most vulnerable section of our society. Through our efforts, today we support about 300 grassroots NGOs reaching out to 1,36,000 marginalised people directly through our offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. Concern India Foundation has touched the lives of 80,945 individuals, providing them with the keys to unlock their future through academic scholarships and enhanced learning environments. We take special pride in breaking down barriers that have historically limited educational access, particularly for young girls who face unique challenges in their pursuit of knowledge. By creating supportive, inclusive learning spaces, we're nurturing a generation of confident, capable individuals who will shape tomorrow's world. The chain effects of education extend far beyond classroom walls – they transform families, strengthen communities and build the foundation for our nation's progress. • When illegal quarrying threatened Kengalapura village in Tumkur, Karnataka, the people were deeply concerned but didn’t know what they could do. Through Concern India Foundation’s Root for the Future initiative, the villagers took it upon themselves to plant 450 saplings and thus transform this barren and exploited land into a lush mini-forest. It was a big step towards stopping soil mining as they became guardians of nature and organized night vigils to protect their efforts. Where machines once roared and soil dug stealthily from the depths of the heart of Mother Earth, today the trees are growing as guardians. It will bring back the birds, bees and rain, thus soon nurture the earth. Kengalapura’s story is a testament to what happens when communities come together for the planet, bringing about an extraordinary change. This is more than just a forest – it’s a movement. A reminder that we all hold the power to heal our Earth.

  • The sustainable livelihood beekeeping project, supported by DCB Bank CSR, is transforming lives in Odisha by equipping women with skills to succeed from hive to market. On December 18, women beekeepers from Cuttack gathered at Ansupa Lake for a buyer-seller meet, connecting with bulk buyers from Angul and gaining market insights. They learned much about branding, packaging, and how to diversify into beeswax and pollen products, ensuring sustainable businesses. This initiative empowers women to thrive, creating lasting community impact. #BeekeepingProject #EmpoweredWomen #SustainableLivelihoods #HiveToMarket #WomenInBusiness #DCBBank #RuralEmpowerment #InspiringChange

  • At Concern India Foundation, we believe in empowering lives and creating opportunities for those in need. Seema and Neelam, single mothers from Wazirabad Village, Gurugram, are shining examples of resilience and determination. Seema, abandoned by her husband a decade ago, works as a domestic worker to support her daughters. Living in a cramped space shared with other families, she earns just enough to cover the basics. Yet, her dreams for her daughters—serving in the army or police—keep her going. Neelam, a mother of four, has faced the struggles of raising her children alone after being left by her alcoholic husband. With limited income, getting all her children into school seemed impossible. Yet, she remains unwavering in her belief that education is the only way to a better future. With the ration support, these mothers no longer have to choose between feeding their families and securing their future. The relief they’ve received has helped them focus on their children’s education and work toward a life filled with hope and dignity. Their strength, combined with the right support, is a powerful reminder that change begins with care. [Concern India Foundation, Stories of Hope, Women, Family, Security, Mothers]
