n-Butyl Stearate TMet - nBS is a is a fatty acid ester Liquid colourless, waxy solid, odourless or with a faintly fatty odour. Butyl octadecanoate is a fatty acid ester that is the butyl ester of fatty acid. It has a role as an algal metabolite. It derives from an octadecanoic acid. It has excellent internal and initial lubricant application, good dispersibility and heat resistance, and better lubricating effect when used together with fatty acid. This product is Soluble in most organic solvents (acetone, benzene, chloroform, wax, vegetable oil and mineral oil), slightly soluble in glycerin, ethylene glycol, methanol and some amines. This product is commonly used in polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene and other lubricants. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic is indeed one of the most widely used materials globally due to its versatility and adaptability across a variety of industries. From medical devices and homeware to automotive parts and food packaging, its widespread use is a testament to its durability, cost-effectiveness, and moldability. However, to enhance its properties, particularly flexibility, plasticizers are added to PVC to make it more pliable and easier to process. Plasticizers and Their Types ::-- Plasticizers are chemicals added to plastics, particularly PVC, to make them more flexible, soft, and easier to handle. As you mentioned, plasticizers are mostly derived from crude oil, and just like automotive fuel, they come in various grades with different formulations designed for specific applications. The main types of plasticizers include: Phthalate-based Plasticizers ::-- Phthalates are the most widely used class of plasticizers, accounting for around 84% of the market. The most commonly used phthalate is DOP (Dioctyl Phthalate), which makes up approximately 54% of total phthalate consumption. Phthalates are preferred because they are relatively inexpensive and can provide good performance in terms of flexibility and durability. Concerns about Phthalates ::-- Over the years, phthalates have been found to pose significant environmental and health risks. Many phthalates are endocrine disruptors, which can interfere with hormonal systems in humans and wildlife. Due to these concerns, several countries have moved to ban or restrict their use, particularly in products intended for children, such as toys and childcare products. As a result, there has been a push for safer alternatives. Trimellitates ::-- Trimellitates are another class of plasticizers that are used for applications requiring high temperature resistance and low volatility. They are often used in wire and cable coatings, as well as in other applications where greater durability and resistance to environmental factors are needed. Adipates ::-- Adipates, such as dioctyl adipate (DOA), are commonly used as plasticizers for PVC in applications where low-temperature flexibility is important. They offer a good balance between flexibility and durability but are more expensive than phthalates. Vegetable Oil-based Plasticizers ::-- With the increasing environmental concerns surrounding petroleum-based plasticizers, vegetable oil-based plasticizers have gained attention as a more sustainable alternative. TMet - CSP is a Calcium Stearate designed as a carboxylate salt of calcium, classified as a calcium soap. The salt is a component of some lubricants, surfactants, as well as many foodstuffs. It is a white waxy powder. Calcium stearate is produced by heating fatty acid and calcium salt. It is also the main component of soap scum, a white solid that forms when soap is mixed with hard water. Unlike soaps containing sodium and potassium, calcium stearate is insoluble in water and does not lather well. TMet - ZSP is a Zinc Stearate designed as a context, soap is used in its formal sense, a metal salt of a fatty acid. It is a white solid that repels water. It is insoluble in polar solvents such as alcohol and ether but soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., benzene) and chlorinated hydrocarbons when heated. It is the most powerful mold release agent among all metal soaps. It contains no electrolyte and has a hydrophobic effect. Its main application areas are the plastics and rubber industry, where it is used as a releasing agent and lubricant which can be easily incorporated. Zinc Stearate made via the modified fusion process using high quality fatty acid and exhibits the following properties :- Excellent lubricity, Excellent water repellent, Good clarity and weathering stabiliser , Non toxicity, Non sulphide staining , Little initial colour formation.
