Today marks the 4th anniversary of the Impact and Dialogue Foundation, a milestone reflecting our mission's dedication and resilience. Over the past three years, I chose to remain in the front, focusing on supporting survivors of trafficking while our #survivors lead the work behind the scenes. We operated safe spaces across three states, navigating the challenges of limited funding. Our immediate goal was to #empower the girls and #women we worked with through targeted training and skill development to ensure workforce development. Many people questioned why we didn’t have a larger team in place. My answer lay in the stark reality of our situation: the choice was either to build a team or continue providing essential support to survivors and at-risk girls. I opted for the latter, embarking on a grueling journey that often had me traveling 25 days a month. Despite frequent illness and battling depression, I emerged more assertive and more determined. Looking back now, I see that every hardship and sacrifice was worthwhile. This path has been fraught with obstacles, and there were moments when I felt utterly overwhelmed. But through it all, I take immense pride in sharing that our holistic four-step process has made a significant impact by empowering at-risk girls and survivors of trafficking, mobilizing community development, and ensuring #livelihood opportunities for #violence-affected women in remote villages across the #northeast India. We have equipped them with financial independence and opened doors to new possibilities, vital in the ongoing fight against violence. One crucial lesson we’ve learned is the profound importance of community and the collective strength. Today, we celebrate not just our accomplishments but the growth of our team, which now includes 7 incredible women—each committed and passionate—working in both the field and the office, along with 1 dedicated consultant. Together, we strive for change and support those who need it most.
